1°F Feels Like -9° :(
Today, the charming combination of drizzle and cold - so pebbly ice covering every surface! 21°F and slick!
It's above freezing! Time to go to the car wash! 35F (2C) and partly sunny, how nice to get a break from the very cold weather for a few days.
28°F -2°C and snowy here, not a lot, but enough snow and ice to cover everything. Tomorrow it is predicted to get above freezing - by 1 whole degree! Ha!
Will be 0* tonight with a wind chill around -10* :(
Currently 27f (-3C). Weather forecast is for rain starting tomorrow afternoon changing to snow overnight. I thought about going to the car wash since it's above freezing, but not if it's going to be sloppy again the next few days. Yesterday we had rain that changed to freezing rain and then to snow, that was messy.
Here, I am about to go out and reshovel, as the snow seems to be mostly over and the wind has died down, so I checked the temps - it is currently 13°F (-11C) with a wind chill of -3°F(-19C). So I will try wearing mittens over my gloves, and see how long I last!
Didn't end up going out then, as it turns put the snow was not done, and we are supposed to get another 1-3 inches by dawn, so might as well wait! And the added bonus is that the snow that has drifted in front of the door will block the usual draft, so i might as well not open that door and spoil that part for tonight!
Last night before I went to bed it was -2F° (-19° C), so today's 19°F seems downright balmy! Even the birds are more relaxed about eating today, so that's a good sign.
Was -4*F before I went to bed last night! Warming up some this week.
Oh, that's funny, Karen...
This has stood out in my mind for years, a radio weather comment on a winter's day not long after I'd come back to Michigan. The day after a stretch of very cold days, the announcer said "It's a balmy 19 out today!"
It's all relative! A little snow today, more tonight, then more tomorrow night into Monday, so today's 26°F didn't look as warm as it might have otherwise! So when I went outside I put mittens on, but once I was out there, I realized there was no need for them whatsoever!

I'm just shaking my head reading these comments about SNOW and how cold your temps are or have been--amazing! I'm in central North Carolina and we have yet to have a real snow this season, just some flurries this winter. So far it has been a very mild winter here; we usually have at least one snow of 4"-6"inches-not feet (don't laugh) and/OR some bad sleets/freezing rain. I can't help but wonder if Feb & March are going to be the "real winter". I've had robins in the yard for two weeks and daffodils are poking their green tops up. I'm afraid the birds & flowers etc are going to think spring is here and then boom the cold temps and snow comes.
I hope all of you with lots of snow or rain will be ok.
Today it was an unseasonably warm 72 and broke a record set in 1925. The next 10 days are for 50's & 40's & back to 50's with some teens at night.
Yeah, pour weather lately has been reminding me of the old Christmas carol, "In the bleak midwinter" that includes the phrase, "Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow ..."
Just got back inside, and feeling has returned to my fingers. I cleaned off the car for Paul to run an errand, and only a couple inches of snow had fallen, but it is bitter cold out there. It is amusing that the redacted low for tonight is 13°F, but by the time I cam back in, the temperature had dropped another degree to 10°F (-12°C), with a wind chill of -5°F(-21C). You'd think they'd have someone update the forecast to at least account for the fact that the temperature is already below the lowest low they predicted!
It's all powder now, as it is so cold, so when the wind gusts hit, everything drifts again. Of course the taller-than-me snowbanks are frozen pretty solid, so at least they are not moving!
It's actually normal winter right now. 30s in the evening and night, occasional drops to the 20s, with high 40s and 50s in the day. It is windy though.
It has been snowing all day here - since yesterday afternoon, actually, and is now about 14°F (-10°C) which is warmer than yesterday! The birds are very busy with the seed I put out!
From earlier today:
Monday mourning doves
Shelter from the storm on our
Dormant bicycles
The hush of snowfall
Is disturbed when I open
My blinds, let light in
Apologizing
I set out generous plates
Bird seed offering
Now they feast again
I sip my cooling tea, peace
On a stormy day
Cold?? What's that? Sometimes it's annoying living in California. We were recently hit with a "storm". The definition of storm here on the West Coast is rain.
We had some rain and actually a little wind last night. Ok, the wind was a problem for me (and Zeplyn). But nothing like what others are dealing with around the world.
Oh, and btw the temps are in the 60s! I do feel sorry for my PT family that is being hit hard with horrible weather. You are welcome to come out and visit me!! :)
It's currently 27F (-3C). Partly cloudy tomorrow, chance of freezing rain tomorrow changing to snow on Wednesday. Forecast is for the temps to stay around 20-25F through Wednesday. I'm tired of a heavy coat and scarf, mittens and boots - but the northeast has had it a lot worse than we have around here, especially the past couple of weeks. So I can't complain.
14°F Feels Like 5° Everything outside is ice. Just ice.:( Warming up some today and tomorrow, maybe we can get rid of some of the ice.
Having lived in California (Northern) all my life and having visited Florida once, I'd choose California. Florida is just too humid/muggy for me.
We have cold weather (rarely, but sometimes) like when it was in the 20s and I found the Chihuahua on my porch. This winter was just dry and warm for some reason.
Even Southern California is always much warmer than the Bay Area (San Francisco) where I live. That's why we go to Disneyland in January. :)
8°F Feels Like -10° Looks like I'll be posting in this thread a lot the next few days.:(
Earlier today it was 6°F - and got all the way up to its current 13°F (-11°C) (wind chill at -3°F[-19C])
The media is all tizzy as we are predicted to get another blizzard this weekend, we'll see what happens, but the next town over, where my church is located, has already declared a parking ban for Saturday and Sunday, so unless that changes, I am betting church will be called off.
To all our friends of all species, good wishes and hopes and prayers that you all stay safe and warm what with all this snow and cold.
(I wish I could do something more than just send along good wishes..)
:love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love: from Pat and cats
Right now it's 25F (-4C), but with the wind chill it feels like 13F. Snow is predicted for tomorrow, Sunday and Monday with highs around 15F both tomorrow and Sunday. I am so ready for a break in the weather. This has been a long week.
Yes, in these old New England town and cities, with streets laid out by following cow paths, dodging swaps, etc, long before civil engineering nd street planning was a "thing" end up banning on-street parking for storms, simply so they can plow safely. The streets are already much narrowed by the [previous storms' snowbanks, and they are running out of places to put the excess! Running errands today, I ended up waiting for 5 minutes as a guy in a Fedex truck stopped in the middle of the street, put on his flashers and delivered a package - thank heavens he apparently didn't need a signature! There was nowhere for him to pull over or off the road, and the road was down o=to one land of navigable space.
I got a call less than an hour ago, my own city, Waltham, is having a parking ban staring at ten p.m. Saturday night, but they at least list alternative places for folks to park if they need it!
In my little town, they have street signs (that are up all year)warning you not to park on the street when there is any accumulation of snow.
This is because they will be plowing the streets.
The snow started falling a couple hours ago, we are supposed to get 12" to 14" or more, or less, depending on what station you listen to. There's not much wind yet, that's supposed to come later, and the storm will intensify overnight. The little birds (juncos and sparrows) cleaned off two plates of seed from late this morning, I put out more. I haven;t seen the mourning doves yet, they may be sheltering in the hedge until they have to eat!
Church tomorrow has been cancelled, so has a lot of everything else in this end of the state! The bigger weather news is after the storm, the temps are supposed to drop like a rock, it is now 21°F (-13C) but is supposed to drop below zero Sunday night into Monday, with winds making it feel like -25 to -35°F (-32 to -36C).
5°F Feels Like -13° We has about 3" of snow today on top of the 14" we already had.
At least it was warmer earlier so the dogs got some play time.;)
-5°F Feels Like -23° Luckily, no snow overnight!
Sunday Feb 15 2015
What a night! The wind blew hard (at times 50 mph near me) all night long and today to be 20 mph. The lights flickered but managed to stay on here but some are without power. At last we're to get SNOW and/or a mix Monday night and Tuesday. The high for the next four days is 28 or so. Right now it is 14 and with wind it feels like -2. We will not be outside very long with the little girls. George loves it though; he loves to run in the wind.
Later today I'll get a big bag of sunflower seeds for the birds. I have some but not enough. Hope everybody stays safe.... Kay in NC
Glad you are all safe! And that you still have power, that's always a worry with wind storms, no matter the temperatures.
It is still snowing and blowing here, hard too tell how much we have gotten, but it looks like the snow has reached the spot on the little tree where the trunk splits into 2 branches, so there must be at least about 4 feet of snow back there!
The intense cold has not hit yet, we are all the way up to 18°F(-7 C) out there!
Here in Trenton we woke up to about 4" of snow and they're promising more tomorrow and later in the week. Right now it's 8 degrees with windchill that makes it feel more like 10 below, nobody on our street is outside.
Indy had those high winds yesterday. Every time I opened the back door to let the dogs out, the wind nearly blew the back door off. I had to grip the doorknob
with both hands. The winds have calmed down today but it's still cold & no snow. 13 degrees, feels like 2 degrees.
I'm really over this whole Winter thing by now & can't wait for Spring.:)
