Thanks for the reminders about Sat's games!!!!
Yes, Otto Graham was and will remain a big part of football history. Speaking of that, some day I hope to make it to Canton.
I made it to Canton...twice!! In HS our marching Band was in the Hall of Fame Game Parade. Did we get to go to the Hall of Fame? NO!Quote:

What a waste!!!
My senior year, they gaveup the canton parade to do the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade. I didn't even make the trip, cause they weren't going to the football game....band director must have thought people joined band to play music...I joined for a free ride to the football games :)
But I'm not not bitter...not at all :)
Someday, I hope to get back and actually get to see the Hall of Fame :)
Cincy's mom......You was ROBBED!!!!!
I am all too familiar with those silly, misguided band directors as I was a fellow band member. Each year we traveled to Corpus Christi in order to participate in something called Buccaneer Days. In case you're not familiar with Corpus, it's right on the Gulf of Mexico. Did we get to go to the beach while we were there? Only on the way out of town. (Wave bye-bye to the seagulls, kids). Were we allowed to go to the town's giant carnival that was part of the celebration? Of course not. That would've been FUN and we were only there for a contest. Bleh.
Another football related band experience had to do with summer band camp, a mandatory part of being in the marching band. It was held in the little town of Kerrville on a beautiful college campus. It turned out that the Houston Oilers held their training camp there, as well. Naturally, their section of the campus was off limits to us and vice versa, but we could get close enough to watch them when they worked out on the field. These guys are soooo huge when you see them up close and personal.
there is something nice about "up close and personal" but several years ago when I was waitressing at a "Famous Sports Bar" where all the RedSkins used to show up I stayed way late to serve the table where some of them were. Owner said "treat them well" I did. At the end of the dinner (they didn't get a check) one of the guys slipped a folded paper into my hand. I thought "GOOD TIP", well it must be at least a twenty, maybe a FIFTY! I was there allll afternoon. I went to the bathroom and opened up the paper to find a phone number from one of the team (I won't say who) with a note saying "blank name... with phone number.. CALL ME" THAT WAS MY TIP!! UGH.
Well, the CALL ME note was exactly why us youngsters were only allowed to view the Oilers from afar.
That always makes me so mad  when a table steals from a waiter or waitress. When someone has worked really hard, especially serving a large party, they surely deserve a GOOD tip. What a disappointment and a pisser that must have been for you. AARGH!!!!
Doesn't surprise me that it was one of those nasty Washington Redskins, though. :p I'm so positive that our angelic Cowboys would never do anything so creepy. ;)
Wow! Is anybody watching the Vikings cream KC? Did anyone talk about MN winning the SB this year? I am amazed!
well Iloverat, creepy it was, BUT.. hehe.. I understand your Cowboys have a new defensive coach... JOHNNY COCHRAN!! sorry, just had to be said ;) :o
WE did!!! Actually made Dad take off his Chiefs Hat.Quote:

Amazing!!!!:p
We have a long-time friend from MN who is a big Vikings fan. He only bets on underdogs (all the jock commentators picked KC), so maybe he will have some Christmas money this year!
Now if the Titans and Cowboys win everybody will be happy!:)
Good answer!!! Angelic Cowboys...HA!Quote:

I have to double check fantasy football, but I think we played Culpepper last night..I hope so!!!
Tampa/Atlanta game was a good one. Terry Bradshaw said at halftime it would be a good finish, and I thought, yeah right:rolleyes: Sorry Terry...you were right
Well, I guess I'll just have to take that hit. After all, the Cowboys newsletter used to double as a Dallas area police blotter. :)Quote:

All Riiiight!!!!!!! Cowboys are in, and Titans squeak past Houston with 17 secs left...*WHEW!*
HAWKS WIN AGAIN....8-0 AT HOME!
We won't talk about the 1-6 on the road....
We are still on the bubble for the playoffs Nicole...AND we are competing with Mike's Packers!!
Wahoo, Mugsy!!!
If we make the playoffs, do we get to have them at home? (wishful thinking!)
OH NO!! We would be, at best, a wildcard, which means we would play every game on the road....that should tell you how long we'd be around if we make it! lol
congrats to the winners this weekend.....
LOL I was in PIGSKIN HEAVEN!!!
I even ditched work on saturday to watch the games....
What the HECK happened to New Orleans??
I almost died......
I hope the game isn't cancelled tonight......
I admire Bret Favre for choosing to play tonight. I would have understood if he decided not to. His dad taught him football; what better tribute than to go and whup up on Oakland (sorry, Raider Nation!)
PLLLUUUUUUUHHHHEEEEZZZZZZEEEEEEEE...Quote:

that and the fact that My Pal Al had a chance to put Favre into a black jersey.......
Please don't start me.....;)
We'll compare notes tomorrow!!!
Good Luck and may the best.....Aw, hell.......
Packers win!!!
Don't be talking like that, Richard! I need those Raiders to win tonite!!! Counting on them to help out my Vikings. It would really be nice if the Raiders could pull this one off.
Robin :)
Sorry Robin...this win should be for Bret and his dad!!
It's 14-7 after the first quarter. Green Bay!
Did anyone hear if he dedicated the game to his dad?
Well, sorry Richard...your Raiders took a shelaking!! 41-7! WOW.
Oh and Ditka said that he did dedicate the game to his dad.
And I was disgusted when that stupid wench went down after the game and stuck that microphone in his face. I know he agreed to it, but that's just because he's gracious. It was tacky to ask in the first place.
Well, now it's going to be interesting in the Kendall house....GB and Seattle's hopes for the playoff follow a very similar path.
I've always been a Raider's fan, too. And I like the Colts.
It's hard to play with a big psych-out like last night.

we WOULD have mailed that game in but I have the feeling it would have come back 'postage due'.
Lisa "G", the on the field twit was a Fox sports net twit that began as a news reader here on the left coast....You may have seen her on the Best Damn Sports Show.......
To say she is a 'talent' would be far too kind and giving her too much credit.
Bring back Leslie Visser.
So who won the game last night?
I missed it...;)
another HUGE football weekend
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY..
no monday night game tho...:( it's on saturday night...:)
OMG!!! THE HAWKS WIN ON THE ROAD!!! 24-17
Well, it's out of their hands now. Nicole, there are 3 ways that they can get in the playoffs....Minnesota lose, Green Bay lose, or Dallas lose and a strength of victory advantage.
I think I choose Dallas losing and strength of victory or Minnesota losing although I know that opinion will get me killed on here! lol EEWWW....ok....maybe not, Dallas plays the Saints........
You act surprised that the Seahawks won, Molly! I had faith...I picked to win :)
Now tomorrow, Go Bengals, Go Steelers!!!
lolQuote:

you get to yell like that in the house???
Dont you love the playoffs???
That catch was pretty incredible.....I thought.....'oh no.....'
Tomorrow never knows....
Which one? The touchdown pass or the 49ers catch? They were both incredible, but the announcers were right that catch on the sidelines was amazing. I can't imagine having the concentration to have 3 BIG guys coming at me a foot from the sideline and STILL make a catch. I'm glad he caught it, but I'm also glad it wasn't a first down.
You know....this is going to be the thread I miss most when the end of January comes.
Amy, yes, I WAS shocked they won....they had only won 1 game on the road all season and has never come back from being down by 14 points.Quote:

Yay!!! One day I'm going to have to come around and watch a game of football with you ... something tells me we'd have a great and loud time :DQuote:

...
I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!
Harassment was large, due to the drunks behind us lol...but me and mom did a victory dance when Seattles MVPs (its a tie between Erikson the coach for SF or Garcia SFs QB lol) called the WORST play at the WORST possible time...and I thought Holmgren was a moron!
Go tubby go tubby! Seattle CAN win a road game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW tubby is what Nevada seattle fans *all three of them lol* call Holmgren...are we being cruel lol?
Richard, I just heard it'snot too late!!! The radiers can still set a record!!
(Okay, so it is for most losses by a team in the year following a Super Bowl)
But hey, they still can make the record books!!!
Dallas loses and Seattle is in!!! Good luck 'Hawks!!!
Unfortunatly my Bengals stumbled and are done for the season. Not a total loss though...from 2-14 last year to 8-8 this year. Things are turning around. Can't wait til next year!!!
Well, thats it for my team. Another disappointing season for me and my Vikes. I'm very sad right now :(
I guess we will try again next year.
Robin :)
Well next week should be interesting....My Seahawks play Mike's Packers. Oh geez......
Congrats to all the winners. What a weird weird day in the NFL. The Lions beat the Rams????? What's up with that?
RobiLee, I'm sorry for your beloved Vikes, but, for peace in our house, I'm glad they lost.....sorry.
Amy, you're not very nice....harassing poor Richard like that. ;) So, who are you going to yell for next week? Are you going to be my friend or Mike's? lol
You should know by now, I'm not very nice :)Quote:

And I don't know whose side to take...Seattle is the underdog and I do get tired of the same teams all the time. But I also like Brett Favre. He is not a super flashy-look at me guy.
