I have cancer....the road to recovery

Ever since I read this post, earlier this morning, and emailed you, I have had you on my mind, Vickie. Darn it, we are ALL, right here, in your court, and you don't have to post "happy" anything to us, nor do you have to post at all. What you do is certainly your private business, right now, as you are under more stress than most of us will ever experience in our whole lives. What is important to me, and I'm sure to others, is that you know you have the support and love of many friends here at Pet Talk.

Please know that we will continue posting to you on this thread, whether you read it or not, and know that we love you, completely, even with all of our own issues going on. Your issue is at the forefront of our minds. You have been a good friend to us and we want to share that back with you. I know, in my heart, that you know that.

Much love to you, Vickie.........come back, when you are ready, but in the meantime, you can expect this thread to grow and grow, because we are going to forget that you said you were leaving Pet Talk, and when you come back, your eyes are going to be so tired and your heart is going to be so full!!!!! :)

Thank you Randi. This is exactly what I need.....some quiet time and some time to rethink my priorities. Thanks to those who have emailed and PM'd and left phone messages. I just need some time away right now and I thank you for understanding. Gini will post an update after my surgery.

Slick, your post this afternoon has made me feel considerably better.

I truly do understand..........you mentioned a long list of things you wanted to accomplish prior to your surgery.

All of us in our own way are very sensitive to you right now - we all care a great deal and each will show that in a different way.

You have a ton of friends here who care about you far more than you could ever imagine.

I, as always, will be glad to do anything that I can to help. But, at the same time, I realize, that I need to respect your privacy.

But, sometime in the future, I am looking forward to picking you up at the airport - and you will be wearing something absolutely outrageous and I will have to try to act normal. :D :D (whatever normal for me is)

I want you to be able to swim with the dolphins, and so help me, if you rent a dolphin costume - I will bring a tub of water to the airport. :D :D :D

Quiet time is definately understandable and I'm glad to here your taking time for yourself. You know if you need anything you only have to ask. Take good care of yourself. {{{{HUGS}}}

I just got settled in at work and wanted to let you know I was thinking about you also. I know you must be getting kind of nervous. Just try and relax and realise it's all up to God now and just let him take control. Hopefully, that will put your mind at ease.

I just heard from the cardiologist and everything is a GO!!!! My ticker is in good shape so surgery will definitely be this Thursday. Now, I just have to sit tight and wait for someone to call with my other two appointments. It's always a case of "hurry up and wait". :rolleyes:

Edit to add: I get my horrorscope delivered to my inbox everyday and here's mine for today. Seems quite fitting.

Be charitable today, Slick, and offer your spare change to someone who might need it more than you do. Remember that we are all interconnected and that the happiness you give to another is really happiness that you are giving to yourself. Be rational and practical in all your dealings today, especially those that affect large groups of people within your circle of influence. The more organized you are, the better decisions you will make.

I meet with the pre-admission people and the anesthesiologist tomorrow. Have to be at VGH at 1:30pm and the appointment is 2-3 hours long. :eek: Oh great....I'll be driving home in rush hour traffic. :rolleyes: So what???? Don't sweat the small stuff, Slick. ;) Dorothy, I owe you and email but just making some soup at the moment. Will get to you shortly. :)

Edit: the hospital called me back and asked me to be there at 12:15 tomorrow.

As the day gets closer I'm sure you become a bigger bundle of nerves. You are in my thoughts and I've just reminded my ferret fur angel Trouble that he needs to be diligently looking after you for the next several days. If you hear bells know that it is Trouble doing his job - he loved toys with bells. Please take care.

Slick, I just KNEW your heart would be OK! :D So...... tomorrow, no that's today, you'll be going to see the anesthesiologist. Will he be calculating how much you can handle? ;)

Now, don't let them dope you until you're safely back home! We can't have you out there in the rush hour on drugs! 5-10 mg of Diazapam won't harm you, once you're sitting in front of the TV. :D
