Hi all!
Well, we are home after our trip to Burnaby. I have heard from the vet, and I have an appointment this afternoon to take Bassett in and see if she needs her chest drained again, and also to discuss all the results from the tests and our options from here. There is a drug we can try (I don't know how to spell it but it's pronounced like "Rootin" or the vet has said there are surgical options. So today I will have the chance to go in and see what the best plan of action is.
Other than that, Bassett is doing well. She was a VERY good girl for the ultrasound procedure.. I couldn't believe she was so well behaved. Maybe she FINALLY gets that we are doing this for her own good! :p Anyhow, I will let everyone know how things look after I've talked to the vet today.
Thank you all again for your continued support. It's a huge comfort!

Wonderful to hear some good news on Bassett!
Here's hoping there's more to follow!
Keeping in you in my thoughts!
I'm glad all the tests were done and everythings on its way to a solution for sweet Bassett.
Keeping you both in my prayers.
I'm so glad to hear Bassett is doing better and all the tests are done.
Hopefully things will continue to improve and she'll be back to her old self in no time.
:)
So gald to hear Bassett is going better. Continue to keep paws and fingers crossed :)
Naomi, that's great news. Prayers are still on the way for you and Bassett. I'm sure she'll be back to her old self in no time. :)
For now, we are going to try the Rutin. It's an herbal drug, so there aren't really any side effects if it doesn't work. She is going in on Wednesday to have her chest drained again, even though I know she hates it it's for her own good. So that's all for now - hopefully this new drug will help stop the fluid from going in her chest.
It is good to hear that Basset is doing better. Prayers that the new drug works well and she continues to improve.
Hugs
Chris
Naomi- when you say chest drained, do you mean Bassett's lungs? Or are you meaning the chest cavity? What will the herbabl drug do? I am curious to learn about Bassett's condition. Though, the best part has already been answered- Bassett is getting better!!!

Good luck, Bassett!
I sure hope that the Rutin will help her. All fingers and paws are crossed here. Good luck. :)
This drug is supposed to lessen the amount of fluid produced - in some cases stop it all together, and it breaks down the fatty component of the fluid, making it easier to absorb and not stay in the chest. From what I understand, the fluid is in the chest cavity, not the lungs. Here are a couple of websites Ive found about the disease:Quote:

Hopefully those sites will help clear up the situation more. I will try and find a site explaining the surgical option more after I read what the vet gave me.
good luck Basset, and I hope the medicine helps you !
I'm glad to hear Bassett is doing better.
