Just checking in and saying I'm okay. I work in a Courthouse but not one that terrorists are going to hit (I hope). I'm not in a major government office or anything.
Remember this date and be prepared. I think this is the beginning of a war.
Just heard that. Okay, now I'm getting scared. That's like one hour from here. If they start hitting State or County buildings, I'm out of here.

I'm an hour south of DC, which is in complete chaos. I can't reach my family by phone -- complete silence. Unbelievable.
The plane just outside of Pittsburgh (about 60 miles) was another supposedly hijacked. There are reports that another one of the planes may of been hijacked from Pittsburgh. I live 10 minutes from the Pittsburgh Airport and my husband works there. He said it is just very hard to get information now since there are some sick people out there calling in false reports.
A hospital near the North Shore of Pittsburgh has been reportedly planted with a bomb.
I can barely think straight. This is the biggest tragedy. My friend lives nearby the World Trade Center. I was able to contact her family in Austin who said she was alright but they hadn't heard from her in awhile. This is so bad, I just can't express my feelings about the whole thing. I have several friends in the military who I think are giong to be shipped off to war or soemthing. And I can't get ahold of them.
This is really scary! What is happening! I hope Chicago isn't next! I'm so close, my gosh! I hope that everyone is okay!
I'm praying for all of you out on the East coast...
Out here on the left coast we're not our usual laid-back selves, either. There's a United Airlines flight bound for LA that's unaccounted for. It's due at LA at 11:15am.
I have been in a state of shock this morning. This is the worst thing I have ever experienced in my whole life and I am just watching it on television. The fact that the Pentagon itself was hit, just proves how vulnerable we are. I had to come here because you all are so dear to me.
I'm glad everyone here seems to be okay. But this is just awful!! :( My cousin works in the World Trade Center and was in it when the planes crashed. He came down 102 flights of stairs and came out safe. :)
I just wanted to ckeck in with everybody. This has been very hard for us. My husband's grandfather is in New York City. He is a truck driver. Fortunatly, the company he works for has found him, and is trying to get him home.
God Bless everyone and please be with those people in need and the families that are suffering. God be with our country and help us unite together to help those affected by this tragedy. Have mercy on the souls that perished and heal those that are hurting and injured. Lord help us all deal with this tragedy. Please help us not to understand why this happened but to come thru this stronger and wiser. - Amen -
It is nearly impossible to focus on anything else today. I am on the verge of tears and glued to my radio and any tv I can find at work. We have a blood drive here tomorrow that I was not going to participate in but have since changed my mind. I would encourage you all to maybe do the same if you can find a place to donate. It is the least we could do for those in need and yet it is a gift of life.
God Bless you all and I hope and pray that you and your loved ones are all safe. Be strong and stay close - Lots of love to you and all of your families.
Love Angel
I was shocked to see the news on tv. World Trade Center and Pentagon being attacked by terrorists. I'll pray for all the victims and God bless America.
Thank you for the prayer, Angel. My mind is just reeling, and it is hard to put my thoughts into words, so I will use yours.
I was posting a message at the same time that Karen was moving this subject down to here. Since it has not arrive, it may be lost somewhere in cyber space.
These news are too horrible for words :( :( :( I'm in a state of terror because my brother, who lives in Alexandria, VA, travels a lot for business reasons. He's fine today but he's scheduled to fly to South America on Thursday and I don't know how to talk him out of going.
I'm listening to a report on the radio, from Israel, that Palestinians are indeed in a cheerful mood and some merchants are giving out candy to celebrate this attack on civilians in the States
How can we expect people to be kind to animals when there are those who can be so cruel to other humans. When are those who believe in violence realize that it only brings more violence and never a sensible solution to the problems? :(
I hope that everybody who's concerned about families and friends will not have to suffer from this terrifying event. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the innocent victims.
As I heard the news this morning I turned to Rascal and said no animal would be capable of so much hate to perpetuate such horror on each other.
The thought of how many people have lost their lives is devasting to me and I am sure to all of you.
Please join me in praying for all of these souls who have lost their lives. May God have mercy us. And also prayers for all of the rescue crews involved.
It is my deepest hope that none of you have suffered the loss of a family member or friend in this tragedy.
I just wanted to ask for prayers for not only the victim's and their families, but also the firefighters, police officers, members of the military and everybody else who helps others in times of crisis like this. I heard that along with employees, there were numerous police officers and firefighters in the World Trade Center when it collapsed. I, like the rest of the Nation, am in shock right now. God Bless you all.
My husband's office is by the World Trade Center. Not there today. Supposed to be flying early this morning. Oh God. Cannot reach him by cell phone. Now it is said that the plane that crashed outside of Pittsburgh was intended for the White House or Capital Building. Oh God help this country to survive. I was born in NYC. My beautiful city is in flames. This is a so horrific. Just wanted to let you all know how much I love all of you. You are all wonderful people and friends. Be safe everyone. Love, Sandra
Oh Sandra, we are sorry that you are in such a dreadful, uncertain situation. We will all pray that your husband, Star and Cody's dad, is safe and just cannot get through because of all the phone traffic in and around the major cities. They said on the news that all cell phones out in New York. We all hope he is safe, and that he is able to reach you and reassure you soon.
For Sandra, for her husband, and for everyone around the world whose lives are touched by these tragedies, let us have a common time of prayer for the Pet Talk community.
I suggest we all take a moment, maybe 5 minutes, at 8:30 pm Eastern time tonight, which will be 5:30 on the "left coast" to have a communal moment of prayer, for our country our friends, or families and our world.
Will you join me?
I will be at church. I called my church about 11:00 and at that time they were not planning a prayer service, but most of the large churches in this area are. I will go to one. Anyone who cannot be at church tonight, please join in the moment of silence.
Sandra, our prayers are with you and all of the other people who have been personally touched by these horrible acts.
I work on an Army post, and right now we are at Threatcon Delta, which is the highest level of alert that we can go to. Here in Maryland, all of the public schools and colleges are closed, people are urged to stay off the phone lines so police can have the bandwidth for emergencies. I have a good friend who works in the Pentagon, and I've no idea how he is doing, I have been unable to reach his wife.
In addition to prayer, let me encourage everyone who possibly can to donate blood, even if you live out on the "left coast". There will be a tremendous shortage of blood in this area due to these tragedies. Everyone who gives will be contributing to our country's ability to spring back and fight back against cowardly terrorist acts such as these. To find out where you can donate, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or log on to www.redcross.com.
Sandra, it is my prayer that you will hear from your husband very soon. If all cell phones are out it may be very difficult for him to be able to find a way to communicate with you.
Left coast prayer time is 5:30 P.M. - you can count on me.
This is impacting the whole world - not only is air travel disrupted worldwide, but many foreign companies have offices in the WTC.
Also, we have embassies and military bases worldwide, that are now on security alert - many of these facilities employ civilian locals. This may well again be a "shot heard 'round the world".

My office closed early today due to all of this. I am about 10 miles outside of Philadelphia. Most everything around here is closing down. There was a message on my answering machine when I got in a while ago. It was someone saying that my church is having a prayer gathering tonight as I am sure so many others are all across the country. As we pray for the victims and their families please do not forget to pray for our President. He will need a tremendous amount of wisdom to know how to properly handle this situation. Who knows where this will lead. God help us.
Our hearts are with you all.
This has sent shock, horror, revulsion and outrage around the world.
My husband has just packed a bag and left in seven minutes after a phone call calling him in to work. (He is in the British Army.)
He wanted me to tell you that any and all help will be available from this country. We have search teams on standby too.
I hope all of you and those that you love are safe and well.
If you feel like you want to do something, anything to help, please consider giving blood. I had heard earlier that there is a critical shortage in NY.
As a Canadian, I send my prayers to my American neighbours
Karen - Prayer time is 6:30 PM here - jus the time we start our Bible Study. We will join you.
I will definitely join in at 5:30. I will be on my way to my church for a prayer vigil tonight at 6pm. That is the only place I want to be right now - at this moment - is my church. I just want to spend the day on my knees praying for everyone involved in this... which happens to consist of the entire world somehow or some way. Again, I am giving blood tomorrow and I hope and pray it will help someone...
I am hearing the death toll is 10,000 plus and I'm sure it will go higher. This is the worst loss of life on American soil since the Civil War and we are the unfortunate souls to witness it. God be with the families, deceased and to all those lending their support and expertise to control this event.
Sandra, my prayers go out to you and please let us know when you find out something.
Take care --
Being a retired Military family, Don spent 25 years in the Navy this hits very close to home. Every time our husbands went to sea, went to war we felt well this will be the last time. It never is, now it is the young people who see their husbands go to sea, go to war. It's bad enough that this happens, but why do these horrible people want to kill innocent men, women and children who have nothing to do with war.
Sandra I do hope you find out information about your husband soon. It's terrible to not know. We will pray he is o.k.
I agree with everyone else, blood is needed
NOW. Please help. We will join in the prayer at 5:30 GOD BLESS US ONE AND ALL AND GOD BLESS AMERICA.
Jackie

My teacher Mrs. Reece's doughter was on the plane and is dead I am hopeing you all will pray for her that she has comfort in this hard time.

Franciscans Call for Online Peace Pledges
In the wake of September 11's terrorist attacks, the Franciscans in Cincinnati are urging people everywhere to use the Internet to take a pledge for peace. The web site www.pledgepeace.org has been modified to receive pledges from those horrified by the massive attacks.
This was a poem read by John Wayne many years ago
AMERICA, Why I love her
"America, America, God shed his grace on thee"....
You ask me why I lover her? Well, give me time, and I'll explain...
Have you seen a Kansas sunset or an Arizona rain?
Have you drifted on a bayou down Louisiana way?
Have you watched the cold fog drifting over San Francisco Bay?
Have you heard a Bobwhite calling in the Carolina pines?
Or heard the bellow of a diesel in the Appalachia mines?
Does the call of Niagara thrill you when you hear her waters roar?
Do you look with awe and wonder at a Massachuetts shore....
Where men who braved a hard new world, first stepped on Plymouth Rock?
And do you think of them when you stroll along a New York City dock?
Have you seen a snowflake drifting in the Rockies...way up high?
Have you seen the sun come blazing down from a bright Nevada sky?
Do you hail to the Columbia as she rushes to the sea...
Or bow your head at Gettesburg...in our struggle to be free?
Have you seen the mighty Tetons?...Have you watched an eagle soar?
Have you seen the Mississippi roll along Missouri's shore?
Have you felt a chill at Michigan, when on a winters day,
Her waters rage along the shore in a thunderous display?
Does the word "Aloha"...make you warm? Do you stare in disblief...When you see the surf come roaring in at Waimea reef?
From Alaska's gold to the Everglades...from the Rio Grande to Maine....
My heart cries out...my pulse runs fast at the might of her domain.
You ask me why I love her?...I've a million reasons why.
My beautiful America...beneath Gods' wide, wide sky.
"And crown they good with brotherhood
from sea to shining sea."

Thanks to all for your care and concern. Gratefully, thankfully, my husband was able to call me at about 4pm. He is alright, if not shaken. I have spoken with family and friends from my hometown in NJ, just across the George Washington Bridge. From my home there, on the cliffs of the Palisades overlooking the Hudson River, the burning debris from the Towers can be seen and black smoke blankets the air. All of the broadcast channels are out, only cable. All transit in and out of the city has been cancelled or closed; rails, buses, highways and bridges. The hospital I worked at for so many years has taken in several dozen injured for triage. Many are in the OR and recovery room where I worked till just recently. It is all so surreal. Volunteer firefighters from all across northern NJ are assisting in the search and recover effots. Several are close friends of mine and my husband's. Already they estimate that 300-400 firefighters were killed as the towers collapsed. People were seen jumping from the building in a final attempt to save themselves.
My sister-in-law's brother, someone I grew up with, who is an investment banker and was at his office inside of one of the Tower's at the time of the attack, has not yet been located. I can only pray we have not lost a family memeber.
Dear Buddy, I cannot imagine the grief that Mrs. Reece has to deal with at this time. I am so devastated for her loss. Please tell her that many people unknown to her pray that God gives her the strength to endure this unimaginable tragedy.
Carrie. What can I say. You Brit's have always been there for us. Thanks to all your countrywomen and men for their support. Perhaps our media is "too close" to the event and too emotional right now to report as clearly as the foreign media. But I have to tell you that having listened now for 2 hours to the BCC, I feel so comforted to learn how our many foreign friends are rallying to our side, determined to assist us in bringing these cowards to justice. This was not just an attack on the U.S., but on the very concept of freedom and democracy throughout the world. Politics aside, listening to Tony Blair gave me great comfort. Pres. Bush is currently in an underground bunker under high security alert in the midwest and we eagerly anticipate his return to the capital and his message to the nation. We really do need our leader right now. I pray that God gives him the strength to comfort and guide us through this tragedy. And to your husband Carrie, very, very special thanks for his support and dedication. Hopefully there will be no further loss of life on either side of the ocean.
Karen, I will be there to join you in our collective prayer. Thank you for helping us all during this horribly sad time.
Sandra

I still go to school, and they were't allowed to tell us anything. There were tons of rumors. Now I know the whole story, and its unbelievable.
My son's school virtually had no classes - they still went from room to room for the periods but did nothing but watch TV. The only class that was business as usual was his soccer class.
