He has kidney failure and I hope he still has some happy years with us.

I don't think kidney failure will stop him, he looks so young:D ! My RB cat Brando was diagnosed with it at about 7, and he lived to be 15! I'm sure Filou will enjoy many more years as part of your family. :)
