Ankle-biting dogs emerge from house as cop escorts traffic violator home

FREMONT, Calif. - A pack of angry Chihuahuas attacked a police officer who was escorting a teenager home after a traffic stop, authorities said.

The officer suffered minor injuries, including bites to his ankle, police Detective Bill Veteran said.

The five Chihuahuas escaped the 17-year-old boy’s home and rushed the officer as he stood in the doorway Thursday, authorities said. The teenager had been detained after the traffic incident.

The officer was treated at a hospital and returned to work less than two hours later.

Good thing the dogs were the tiniest things on earth. The news
could have been more viscious. Kinda funny though, to think a
"wee" dog will from now on, scare a "mighty" police officer. Good
to know that it doesn't take a 'big' dog to scare them.

LOL!!! I honestly think I would be more afraid of tiny dogs running after me than big dogs.

What happened to the Chihuahuas? :confused:

I would have to agree. I have only been bitten by little dogs.
I'm not afraid of them, as I know what dogs are 'mostly' about.
But, our little guys seem to be more aggressive. Still we love
them all the same. I understand, if I was that small, I would
stand up and make myself known. Wouldn't you??? It's just
really amazing that people get really ugly about bigger dogs.
Just because their bite is more powerfull, doesn't mean they
are more aggressive. A little dog bite still means you have to
go and get a shot and antibotics. Not anymore than a "big"
dog bite.

We have a chihuahua (long haired possible Yorkie mix) and Peanut although she really tries sometimes, is incapable of doing any damage to flesh. She's all of four and a half pounds though. :) On the other hand...or should I say leg, my neighbors have a chihuahua that I call "the one eyed pirahna"! :eek: Honey is fully capable of removing chucks of flesh...so I avoid her. ;) Having five (like her) coming at me at once could be messy. :eek:

so, will there be chihuahua bans now? :p I like the story though its kinda cute, in a violent sorta way. ;)
