Happy Birthday Bandit
Handsome Bandit turns 9 today!

Bandit has been here for over four years. Back when he arrived, there were only five other dogs around! Bandit had a number of homes before he arrived here, none of them very nice! The last one was a former neighbor who was just nasty--to everyone and everything, including Bandit. He kept Bandit chained to a tree. Bandit, being a husky, is an expert escape artist and learned how to set himself free fairly often. He often showed up at our place when he was out exploring. One day in June 2001, I just decided not to take him back. His "owner" knew where he was and if he cared, he could come looking for him. He never did. A few weeks later, the family moved and I found a bag of leashes and Bandit's AKC papers hanging on the door. The woman called once to ask about him, but hung up when I told her I'd had him neutered!

Bandit isn't much of a sled dog. In fact he has retired himself this winter. It's really the only sign of age he is showing! He used to like to come along for the run, but he never actually did any work. Now he prefers to stay home when the team leaves. He still loves to go for walks and loves to run on the Springer on my bike.

Bandit enjoys a good bone and the area around his doghouse looks like a moose graveyard. He collects all the bones he can and leaves them all around his house!
Bandit isn't really part of the pack structure. His early lack of socialization with other dogs has left him with some social skill problems. When we first got him, there were a few nasty fights. Bandit likes to talk, but he can't back it up! Now he's learned how much trash talk he can get away and the other dogs have learned to ignore him! Much more peaceful!

He thinks this chair is his personal doggy bed. I got a talking to a few days ago when I left some stuff in HIS chair. It was quickly removed so he could nap in comfort!
Happy Birthday Bandit! I am glad of you.
