My cat won't eat
just about a month ago, i adopted a cat, Deosil. we got her spayed and she has been dewormed but now she hasn't been eating. she has become a bone. she has as much energy as all my other cats. i've started hand feeding her and she has gotten better but hasn't eaten by herself. she just drinks alot of water (which is good). She acts perfectly fine, just skinny and feather light. i can feel every bone in her body. i'm going to take her to the vet after christmas. i feel bad for waiting so long to take her. any ideas of what's wrong with little Deosil??

This is definitely cause for concern.
1. How old the the cat?
2. How is her output....pee and poop?
3. If she is drinking lots of water but not eating it could be kidneys.
4. Maybe she just doesn't like the food. Have you been switching foods? Sometimes when you try different foods in a short period of time, kitty's stomach can be upset.
I would not wait. Can you get her in sooner than after Christmas?

She has been pooping and peeing. I've tried tons of different foods. Even wet food. She has over five different types sitting on her plate. She just doesn't touch it. I'm not sure how old she is. I got her from the animal shelter. They had her over a year but she looks rather young. I think it may have something to do when she was spayed because they would have told us about anything wrong when we adopted her.

I wouldn't wait. I'd get her to a vet fast. There's definitely something going on, and better to find out what it is now than later. Sounds like it's time for bloodwork.
Please keep us posted!

solares412 said she may be lacking L-glutamine, an amino acid that cats need to digest food. I got some for her and her appitite has started to improove! Yay!

I wouldn't wait either. Get her to a vet as fast as possible. I hope its nothing serious! Good Luck and keep us updated. (I know I don't have a cat but I saw this board and got concerned.)

I have to agree with the above posts!! GET TO THE VET ASAP!!!! Blood work can tell alot! Sandra

Since I got her the L-Glutamine, her appitite has improoved alot. I think that was the problem. I also switched her to kitten food. She's getting better. Thanks for the concern! :D

The Royal Canin Kitten Food Dry is generally on Special and I find that most Cats love it.
The Best of Luck with your Little One,and we hope that she gets her appetite back.

How is the little one doing? Eating now?
It's a worry when they don't eat. Mine eat less in hot weather (it's hot here in Sydney now). I always worry though even though they always do that.
But with your little girl it sounds like the amino acid might have helped.Let us know how she goes at the vets too, please.

Won't eat
It could be diabetes, some of the symptoms are drinking alot, peeing alot, and sometimes loss of appetite, depending on how high the blood sugar is, the only way to find out for sure is get her to the vet. Good luck, let us know. Joann

Absolutely get her to a vet!!!!! Even though she's eating more now (thank goodness), you need to know what the cause was - is. Hepatic Lipidosis (fatty liver disease) can kill quickly in a cat that has lost its' appetite. It is difficult to recover from, but not impossible.
PLEASE take your cat to the vet to be checked out - bloodwork can tell so much - liver problems, kidney problems, diabetes, etc. Also check her mouth for dental problems, or sores.
My cat stopped eating last October, and eventually we found the cause was lymphoma - she had chemo, and is in remission from that. She's got other serious issues going on right now - I'm tube feeding her, since she stopped eating again in July - she did very well, gained weight, and played like a kitten again, until recently, when CRF is taking its toll.
