- My Fading Star -
I thought I'd start a new thread just for her (here too) and we would really need your good thoughts/vibestars very much.

I'm really scared & worried for my sick girl, star. I just got home from work, she doesn't look really good! I usually find her sleeping on my nighttable by the door, waiting until I get home but she was found in the dark corner far away. :(
I walked down to her, she's so pale. her white nose.. my heart dropped to my stomach. [does anybody remember my little tuxedo guy, edges last year? he suddenly died unexpectedly (a day after) after being so cold and pale.] now star is just very like him, very lethargic and so cold..
I took her temperature, degree showed 98, she is suppose to be 102.5. I also did a dehydrate test on back of her neck, oh my, she's very dehydrated. I usually see her around the waterbowl, drinking with her boys. now I feel so stup!d for not watching her xtra-extra carefully. I should have watched her until she licks for some!
okay, let me summarize of what just happened to her (all in a week) from cat health forum here -
- ♥ just after chance had his colitis, star started the same symptons.
♥ the next day as the vet approved giving her chance's metronidazole droplets.
♥ she had some seizures then a stroke on way to the whitecoats. and stayed there overnight being monitored.
♥ star came home with nothing, we had to wait until the medicine/sqinjection she was given at the office to wear off.
♥ friday night (9/9), she started not eating.
♥ sunday morning/night, she left another painful mucous poop in the sink.
♥ I took her back to whitecoats monday morning to have another full blood panel, barium enema & G.I. series taken. nothing showed in these films, we're only still waiting for the blood results by tomorrow/thursday.
♥ her vet didn't think x-rays scans were necessaried because he felt/saw no sign of imflammation.
♥ now tonight (9/13), she's all-lethargic, pale & cold.. :(

I'm not so sure what to do with her for now. all of minutes I focused her, comforting & tried given her salmon wetfood (her favorite), various nibbles and crayola's chewy beefy treats - she wouldn't ever move her nose a bit.. :( I hope to reach her vet by tomorrow borning.
what hurts more, she's only 26 month old (almost three in january). she has already went through so much, reacted serve allergies to four medicines/antibodies, gave birth to four boys, spay insicison & painful notched ear. I've only known her for a couple months but I can't love her more. I can't say more in words of how so much this poor little heart already meant to me. from now and on, we could really use your thoughts, please keep her hard in your prayers, don't let my precious star fade...
helpless paws,
..my little fading star..

Thinking of you and little Star
-
Gina, I am so very, very sorry to hear that Star is not doing well. Good thoughts and prayers on their way that your little girl will be all right! She has been through so much recently. I hope the vet can offer you some help to get her on her way to feeling better again.
Please let us know as soon as you hear!

Boy, I don't know much but if she's that dehydrated, you've got to get some fluids into her. If she isn't drinking water, your vet is probably going to suggest subcutaneous fluids. If you can't do it, your vet will. Talk to him about it now, please! It made all the difference in Puddy. I'll look forward to your good report.
Blessings,
Mary

Do you have Hills A/D food to syringe into her?
A mixture of A/D, Nutrical, and Pedialyte can keep cats stronger while we figure out what's wrong. I sure hope they get to the bottom of this.

an afternoon update
not much to say yet but had to come & thank you so much for the hugs(stars)!!
star wasn't doing great, kept me up all night. I tried to make sure she's really really warm but always ran away, didn't wanted to be close to anyone this close right now. :( I called twice this morning, they said to bring in star tomorrow (the earlier they could) unless an emergency comes up.
she had her temperature taken again just recent, it has not dropped down more, 98.0 still.
I definitely think she needs some fluids in, probably 2x a day but needed to be examed first by them to prvide some. and rosethecopycat, I ask dr. coast tomorrow about hills food & pedialyte. I was told pedialyte wouldn't do or help rehydrating, and wouldn't be good idea to do vitman injections altogether (if she's getting some tomorrow), he'll know more tomorrow.
do you know why? please keep the stars coming in for tomorrow.. star does not need another disaster & I sure hope it'll be star's last visit in a long run!
many thanks,
..dimming star & I

Am saying prayers for your Star. Come on, little girl, you have to get well for your meowmie.
Please keep us updated on her progress.

or maybe shouldn't I wait?? I dread she'll not make it through the night...
I feel so stuck, the local emergency clinic here is soo mean, only wants money and dr. coast is about 30-40 minutes away. I really feel helplessly, don't know what I should do now for her?? except keep forcefed & drive right away if I see anything worse.

I'm with her right now, she's deadly quiet, trying hard to purr. poor thing! I cry looking at her, not able to see her full-blue eyes. :( :(

:( :( :( :( Poor Star!!! I truly hope she is okay and back to herself shortly. The stress from everything must be difficult (((HUGS))).
-
God, this is so frustrating and sad. Somehow you have to keep her hydrated or she'll start shutting down. Maybe some liquid food and water w/a dropper. I know you don't like the emergency clinic; I feel the same way about the ones around here. But you may have to do it if she gets worse. Sigh. Lots of hugs going your way....
Get well, Star...
Blessings,
Mary
