Worried, annoyed, and sad ....

I just dropped off dear Flutter at the new vet to be spayed.

Here's the worried:
She apparently has a MAJOR case of campy (which I kinda figured but have been giving her the medicine for it all week, so she SHOULD be better... guess not) and is running a VERY HIGH fever. Ten minutes before I left for the vet she had a bloody stool and I brought it along for testing. There was white dots in it like Angel's did, have not heard about the results of what those white dots could be :(

Here's the annoyed:
The first vet NEVER TESTED HER FOR FIV/FeLV!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: I've been complaining to that vet for MONTHS now about her diarreah. They accused me of being irresponsible and not providing proper nutrition for her. THEY were the irresponisble ones. THEY missed a royal case of coccidia until it wa so obvious it made your eyes water. THEY never tested for the basic tests!! THEY said they did! What did they do? Did they take the rescue's money and not do the tests? OMG, what if she DID have FIV or FeLV? She would have exposed all my guys to it!

Here's the sad:
I felt like I was dropping the girls off to be tortured. I felt just AWFUL. :( I still have 6 cats running around here and the house feels empty.

THAT SI AN OUT,AND OUT CASE OF NEGLICENCEM,AND I WOULD CALL,THE VETERNARIAN ASSOCIATION,AND COMPLAIN,AS THAT,IS THE VERY FIRST TEST,THAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING,ON A STARRY CAT.
THERE IS NO EXCUSE,FOR MISDIAGNOSING FLUTTER,LIKE THAT,NONE AT ALL!!
WE ARE PRAYING,THAT FLUTTER,AND YOUR CATS,ARE ALL RIGHT!!!

I guess it doesn't matter how many cats that you have in the house, if one is missing for what ever reason the house tends to be empty.

I'd be looking for a new vet group to handle the fosters.
The rescue group that helped me with Cindy actually had their own test kits for FIV/FELV. Might be something to look into getting some. I know they only charged me like $10-$15, at vet's is like $35/$40. I'm sure they were buying these kits in bulk. That way all the new fosters coming in you'd know right they were tested and the results.

Thats the thing, we DID have those tests. I SAW the director of the rescue give the tests to the vet tech, who was supposed to have tested the girls with it. The records show the tests were not given to the girls. :confused: I can't believe they didn't write it in the files, because they are ever so careful about that stuff. So maybe they DID test them? Once again though, this vet hospital fell down on the job. Whether or not they did administer the test in question, just as is everything else they missed in testing and monitoring the girls from day one.

Awww, honey. I'll be praying for sweet Flutter, that she feels better soon and the new vet gets her all fixed up.

And...I'd be livid with that idiotic vet that didn't test her!!!! In fact, I AM!! :mad: :mad: :mad:

I'd learn how to give the test that way the director can give the fosters the tests to do themselves.

Oh Kim, that is worrisome about the tests and Flutter still being sick. Will they really go ahead with her spay if she is running a fever? I know my vet won't do any kind of surgery if they are sick.

It's easy for me to say but try not to worry. Of course on that note please know that I will now being worrying with you. I don't think a slept much the night R&R were at the vet after their S&N.

Kim, you have every right to be upset. I sure hope that Flutter will be alright and that it's nothing serious. If she's running a fever I don't think that she should have surgery. Prayers and positive thoughts are being sent her way. Please try not to worry too much and take care. (((HUGS)))

I was thinking that too KAK ! With a fever and runs I sure wouldn't think they would. Prayers for our sweet little Flutter.

WORIED......you say that flutter has been on the campy med, right? So there MUST be yet another undiagnosed problem, don't you think. I hope they can get her straightened out. :(

ANNOYED........Just a piece of info for you and those following this.....when the vet hospital uses kits that we supply, there is no written record. Could THAT be the problem? Hopfully that is all there is to it.

I would try to get that procedure changed within the organization of the rescue. That is to important of an issue not to document if it was or wasnt done. I cant imagine a vet tech not documenting what they are or arent doing to an animal. You can always say "no charge" on a document if a kit is supplied but at least say a procedure was done.
When Thumper was at the vet hospital they documented out their behinds. I even knew when she looked around at other animals and the times she did it. That's why it's so hard to comprehend a place not keeping good written records. I'd be looking for another vet hospital to work with or the director of rescue needs to put his/her foot down if that was the case. That's just my own 2 cents. :)

I agree, it is STUPID! And if it were MY vet doing this, I'd make sure there was a change, but alas our director has her own thoughts. :(
