Rebel Yell?
DÃ_lleachta has taken up something of that started off as a sweet, clever kitty tendency but has degenerarting into being irritating. In the mornings, she has taken up yelling in my ear. Presumably to wake me up. When that doesn't work, she bats at the wind-chimes that hang from the ceiling over my headboard. She only does it in the morning, so I assume all the racket she's been making is for my benefit. My question is, why has she suddenly taken up doing this? How can she possibly even know where my ear is and what it's for? She'll get close enough for me to feel her cold little nose and whiskers and then just let loose. Any ideas?

Oh, they KNOW what your ear is for. You can be sure of that. Cats are smart.
The first time that your cat meowed near your head and got a better response that meowing near you feet YOU taught her the lesson.
Lamoni used to wake me up by sniffing my ear. His wiskers would tickle my ear. I woke up dreaming of a running car engine. He purrs so loud in my ear, you know.
One day I did not wake up from the purring and tickling. He put his nose right into my ear and gave a loud ME-OW! "I'm up buddy boy! I'm up."
He has given up waking us. Since Fifi has come to live with us Lamoni figures that it is her job.
