scratch a kitty home??
i have a kitten that is going to be moved as an indoor kitty. we need a scratching post or kitty condo. i dont know if a cat will use a kitty condo to sharpen their nails. this is an example of what kind of kitty condo i am talking about.http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a22...inglecondo.jpg

All cats are different. Some like long tall posts - the one you posted would not be something my guys would be interested in scratching on. Its too short.
Some cats like short posts, some like flat on the ground. Some like vertical, some like them slanted on an angle. All cats are different - provide more than one post, and put them in various spots of the house.

we cant really afford to buy more than one, so what do most cats like to scratch on?

Scratch post
:) Yes the one in the picture is good.. The best that I have found is your cheap ole post with the sea rope around it.. Just one piece with bottom plate & about 1 1/2 to 2 ft tall.. Good Luck..

dab20,
Pet stores sell scratching boxes which are made of corragated cardboard. Cats love them. The come with a packet of catnip that you sprinkle on it. They have ones that also are at an angle the cats also like.
You don't need a high priced, fancy kitty condo. Just get one of those inexpensive scratching boxes for the time being. Then when you can afford it, get something nicer. That's what I did!!
Here's one example:
This one is $9.99

The great thing about these is they last forever. When the cardboard starts to wear out, they also sell replacement inserts.
Hope this helps.

ok, well i think we will get the card board one's that have the little ball thing on the out side of it, so the cat can bat at the ball too. thanks!

I WOULD GET,THE ROLLING BALL TOY,WITH THE CARDBOARD SCRATCHER,INSIDE,THE TURBO TRACK,AND THAT IS A TWO,FOR ONE TOY,AND SCRATCHING POST.

Those cardboard scratchers are great, both of my cats love them.
I also think these are great, they run around $10. Not only do my cats like the chase the ball they also really enjoy scratching on the cardboard in the center.

Have you thought about a big piece of wood? As long as there aren't any bugs inside...it might be a cheap alternative. I am thinking of a stump...that would be a foot wide and maybe 15 inches tall? Something substantial....

well iam already getting some simple ones at walmart. but thanks:)
