Pacer's big day...
Pacer has lived here since November 2003. He staged an escape within 7 hours of his arrival--he can turn doorknobs!!! He was loose for three days. He was so timid at the time that no one could catch him. He eventually got hungry enough that he allowed himself to be lured through the gate for some stinky food. I've never intentionally let him loose as I was never sure he would let me recapture him.
But Pacer has come along way. He's not nearly as timid anymore and is a total momma's boy. Unfortunately, he's had a rough month. He's been beat up twice by the other dogs and has several wounds that needed staples. Pacer is an easy target when one of the others is cranky. He doesn't fight back and is at the bottom of the pack order. So he's been a house dog while he recovers and has decided he will be staying a house dog now, thank you very much. Now when he's outside he follows me around like a he was a lab or some other obedient breed!;) Yesterday he followed me and Sleet right to the gate. The following are pictures of Pacer's first off-leash walk!:D

Woo Hoo, no leash!!

Chasing Sleet. He could easily catch and pass Sleet. She's become very slow lately and Pacer is a speed demon, but he followed Sleet whenever he felt a little insecure. She knows the trail like the back of her paw!

Yup, he comes when called. Again, he was like a lab!!

Good dogs get lots of treats!
Few more coming...

Nope, not a water dog! There was no way he was going swimming.

He tried very hard to find a way to get a drink without getting his paws wet, but eventually gave up and a got a little mud on his white fur!

Almost home, coming up the last big hill.

Back in the yard. This is the best picture I've taken of Pacer! He doesn't often make direct eye contact, especially when I have something in my hand but he was pretty confident after his big day out!

Aww, it's about time he has his own post! I love that white guy. Give him a big hug from me!

Good boy, Pacer! See what happens when you listen, off leash runs. Maybe if you keep behaving you will get those extended house privileges that you have been working on. ;) You got some good pictures of him, I like the tall grass picture and the treatsie picture, and the last picture of course.

Kisses, kisses to you PACER. So glad you're feeling so much better and braver, these days. What a good boy you are. And so good looking as well. And, don't worry about the mud thing. MAXIMUS gets all out of sorts about muddy paws too.
