For your viewing pleasure, a photo shoot of my car!

Howdy!

I know I talk an awful lot about my Festiva (Known mostly as the little blue pill). Today I decided to do a photo shoot. Warning, it isn't the prettiest thing in the world but it is the first car I've ever had with my name on the title and it is one of my greatest joys! She is so fun to drive, and gets great gas milage too!

Front View. You can see where we had to replace the hood and the passenger fender due to the accident. Doesn't look too bad. With the white side mirrors (had to get bigger ones, the stock ones were way too small) I can honestly say Ive got a three tone paint job!

The overgrown exhaust. 2 inches from back end to the Catalytic converter. The 1/2 inch exhaust just wasn't enough ;)

The Motor. Stock as a rock except for an upgrade to the electrical system. You can see where we had to cut part of the unibody and replace it.

The rear speaker assembly designed by my husband (he custom made the mounting hardware too). Two 6 X 9's, a 1200 watt Alpine amp, a capacitor, and a 10 inch Alpine sub. Loud and obnoxious!!!

The XM reciever and the shift handle. Mom made a nice knitted cosy for the shift handle to use on warm days, as it is black and metal and can get REALLY hot!!

The amp under the passenger seat. Its a Dual 250 watt. Ive got another one under the drivers seat. One powers the 6 X 9's and the other powers the front speakers. The back amp only powers the sub.

DJ, I think we've all had cars that we'd be embarrassed about now but loved when we had them. :D
( I think owning ANY car is fun)

I would seriously consider having the unibody repair welded, though.

Okay, the yellow peril did, but it was also the only Ford F150 I know of that could go 0-60 in first gear (post engine swap).:p

Eh, I don't think I'll ever be embarassed about this pile lol. She may not look all that great but she is FAST! She's definatley scheduled to have more work done as money and time allows. The unibody welding is on the list for sure. Couldn't do it when the accedent happened because it was the middle of winter. No shop though would touch the thing, they all said I should total it. Me and my dad did the unibody work ourselves in his garage, and I have a friend with a welder and a shop who will touch it up when his schedule gets freed. My friend also has a paint shop so when the unibody is fixed, she will get a nice new paint job too (and probibly get those nasty dents fixed to boot :D)!

Karen, she is a 93. Over 100 thousand miles on it. The motor is getting a rebuild soon (although it doesn't "need" it, it runs almost like new right now), as we plan on shoving some extensive performance upgrades on her and I have the feeling that the added strain wouldn't be good for her as she sits right now. Most people who build Festivas upgrade the motor to the Mazda 626 motor, as it is a bit bigger. My aim is to prove that the smaller motor Ive got is just as capable as the bigger engine. Sure it's going to take a lot more work, and I'll need to add more parts than if I had the 626 but anything worth doing isn't easy!

My idea for the finished product is to have her done up like Kit on Night Rider except instead of black, I'm probibly going to paint it a perlecent dark blue that fades into black in the right light. Im going to nickname her Kitty (Kits Girlfriend lol).

If anyone wants to see some really nice looking festivas, go to www.fordfestiva.com. There are a few really great Festivas on there that have inspired me to want to fix this one.

I am happy with the fact that there is absolutely no rust on her at all and aside from a few dents (and that unibody...yeesh) the body is clean. The motor was pretty good when I got it too but I had to replace quite a few parts as the previous owner didn't realize that some things have to be replaced after a cirtain ammount of milage. (cap, rotor, plug wires, pcv valve etc). Not bad for $800!

DJ, If you're going to upgrade it, there are a TON of parts available. The most radical festiva transplant I remember, though, was a festiva with the 200 hp taurus SHO engine transplanted into it.
