I am just sad.
I am starting to feel depressed again, for no logical reason. :( I hate to feel like this. I am on the verge of tears. And if I had a reason for it, I could live with it, but I do not. :(
And I can't even see the doctor because since Charlie lost his job he lost his health insurance with it.
I know there are people out there who have chronic depression......Do you all have set backs? I have been doing so well, or so I thought.
I am even sitting here wondering if I should post this. I don't want to just attract attention or pity. I don't know what I want. :(
I am not at home right now so I can't go get any purr therapy. Any suggestions?

Jen my husband has severe depression. He has had it for 10 years now. He has been quite well for almost 2 years but he has set backs. I can't say frequently but now and then. When he starts to feel like this he wants to be alone. I know he finds if at home he will go into the bedroom turn out the lights close the door and lay on the bed with the hairdryer on. The sound lulls him. He said it helps him forget everything. Just makes him draw a blank and no feel anything. After 30 minutes or so he is fine again. I don't know if this could help any. I am afraid I don't know what to tell you to do if you are out. Usually if he is out and feels this coming on him we are off home so he can escape. Is there somewhere you can go to be alone. Completely alone for 10 or 15 minutes and just sit close your eyes and think about nice thing. Like your furrbabies for instance? Please feel better.

Jen, I am so sorry. I'm sure the lack of insurance is not helping... becuase I would be sitting there feeling WORSE knowing I didn't have insurance... and that would start the depression ball rolling even more for me. Just one more thing wrong to add to the pile of other wrong things. :(
You know I'm here to talk or anythign you need.

I can relate. I've been on antidepressants for the most part of 15 years, and recently had a mild setback so started taking another medicine to boost the antidepressants, and thankfully it's working. One thing that always helps me when I start feeling really down, and negative of everything, is the statement that "FEELINGS ARE NOT FACTS." I had a counselor tell me that years and years ago, when my clinical depression was first diagnosed, and that has stuck with me over the years.
I'm not sure what I would do without medical intervention, though. It's so tough to fight it, and the medications have helped me immensely. I know that a proper diet, and exercise, can help some. I sure hope it doesn't get any worse for you, and that it gets better........

Oh Jen...I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling so sad. :( Sadness is such an awful feeling. I know that when I'm sad, what helps the most is getting out of the house......just going out.....maybe to a park, or to see a friend, etc. Ask Charlie to go out with you for a stroll in the park, and hopefully, it will help you feel better. :)

I would think your husband losing his job & health insurance
coverage would be very logical triggers for depression. I believe
most communities have low or no cost counciling for folks. Check
out a United Way agency in your area. There is no need to feel
depressed & alone if you don't have to. I hope things change for
the better soon.:)

I don't really have any advice or suggestions. I posted awhile back with by own depression problems. I just wanted to pop in and send out some great big hugs to you. Lots of people here with their own stories and advice. It does help to finally let people know and talk about it.
Hang in there, Jen. I'm thinking about you.

I'm sorry you're feeling so sad. I've never had severe depression so I can't offer advice. I'm hoping some others can help you. And here is one of my recent favorite pics of Duke.

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling to great jen, Thinking of you and sending you hugs across the miles and across cyberspace too:D

I concur with what Liz said. Also they say that exercise is supposed to be helpful, some studies have shown that it can be as beneficial as medication, so Popcornbird's suggestion of a walk in the park has merit too. And as Soapet mentioned, make sure you get a proper diet.
Your husband's loss of a job and health insurance could certainly have been a trigger to your current episode. I've experienced both those situations and it worried me silly. I am so very sorry that all this is happening to you right now. I do believe unloading your feelings here can be a bit of a help, and that is reason enough to come and share as often as you want. There are lots of folks here who genuinely care for you and care about what happens to you.

Sorry to hear that you are feeling so down. My suggestion would be to go out for a walk, but by yourself. I know if I am depressed I don't want to talk to anyone, but I don't want to be by myself, because I then think too much. Get out, walk, if someone smiles at you as you walk by embrace that act of kindness (not the person that may get you in trouble ;)). And when you get inside, either look at the wonderful pictures that have been posted for you (they really made me smile), and know that there are people that care about you, or do something mind numbing like staring at the television. I really hope you can get past this setback soon.

Awww Jen. You know you are one of my favorite people here on PT and I hate knowing that you are sad.
You have been given some great advice from others, as I was going to suggest going for a walk also. This helps me when I am feeling down.
I know you said you are not doing this for attention or pity and you're not. You are talking to the people who care about you and how you are feeling right now. We might not have all the answers, but know that we are here for you and will help you get over this setback, no matter what.
I hope you are able to get home soon to your furbabies and take some comfort in their purrs and headbumpies.
