Hard to tell, because you dont have a full body pic.
Kind of looks like a domestic longhaired silver tabby, by the colouring in the second picture. It has the distinctive M pattern on the forehead of a tabby.
Below is Spike, he's a silver tabby persian.

Here are two links to a Maine Coon description and a Norwegian Forest Cat description.
Maine Coon
Norwegian Forest Cat
My bet would be Norwegian Forest Cat because it looks like she has a magnificent mane on her. :D

i would say Norweigan Forst Cat Mix,as he has the mane, but not,the large Face, that the Maine Coons, and the Forest Cats, usually have!

My reply would be for a Maine Coon a square box muzzle is needed not going to a point, ear set no more that the width of one ear. Strong chin not receding, a scooped curve to the nose.
A medium neck lenght, long retangular body heavy boning and muscle toning. Tail should come up to the shoulders. Coat Shaggy medium at the back and top of the cat and long at the britches, tummy and tail. That is part of the standard of a Maine Coon cat. You can go to CFA.org and look up the other breeds. I am not sure of the standards for them.

Thanks for suggestion about checking breed stanards but we actually know what they are. The thing is this cat is not pure bred so we know she will only have some of them. She actually had the rounded tip ears, almond shape eyes, the triangle formed by the ear and nose, the massive mane, her back legs are longer than her front legs, which leads us to believe she is more NFC. The thing is NFC, Maine Coon and Siberian are all northern breeds and do share quite a few traits that are dominant in all three. But who knows for sure? She could have any of numberous breeds in her. I don't think it is so important that my friend finds out she was just very curious so I thought I would get some suggestions and opinions. Thanks for the input.

All I can say the coloring I would die for to have one of my girls to have. The ruff on the cat is wonderful and should be the envy of any MC or NFC around. I would if I was your friend enter her in the House Hold Pets in a cat show she would be wonderful to watch and show as wonderful as she looks. I know I would if she were mine. You never did say what the cat's name is.

OOOPS......I'm so sorry the cat's name is Harley and she was a rescue. I don't know the whole story and if I am not mistaken she is about 1 year old. You can see her and her brothers and sisters here Harley's Catster Page
