Black Pads
Good day. My sister just emailed me with this comment:
Last week I happend to notice Two's (her cat) feet pads.I thought to myself that they were discoloring ,turning black, only on a couple of pads.Well, last night I checked again and all 4 feet pads are black and look like dry skin.I tried doing research but couldn't find anything about that condition.I know in humans it is not a good sign.I checked all the others cats and theirs are pink, like they should be.So,I don't know what is going on.
My question to the folks on this forum, has anybody's cat had this blackening of the pads condition? What is it? Any answers would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Not all cats pads are pink, on dark kitties, they have dark pads... What color is the kitty?

Paw pads can come in more than one colour (Look at the signature of Gina's Ark Inc) and with an adult cat they are a little hard and dry -like leather. They can be different pink tones (light- rather brownish) or dark and some cats even have different pads.
The same is right for the gums. Both my boys have black spots on their pink gums.

How old is her cat? Some cat's paw pad change with age...

Her cat is over 10 years old. She's taking it to the vet today and will ask her why her pads turned black.
