Grady is in the hospital
Grady came in around 6 am this morning. I suddenly realized he was putting no weight on his left rear leg, and he was in pain. As soon as our Vet opened, 8 am, we called and went over there. They gave him some Morphine and took X-Rays. He has a really nasty fracture of the femur. Actually, he has two fractures. There were no signs of him being in a fight, and no cars come down here – so we figure he probably climbed a tree, and either fell, or jumped the wrong way.
We had to take him up to Michigan State – to the Vet School. How fortunate we are to live so close to this fantastic place!! He will spend the night getting pain control, more X-Rays, lab work. Then tomorrow the orthopods will do an ORIF (Open reduction, internal fixation). We should be able to pick him up on Easter or Monday.
Poor baby, he’s such a sweet guy, with no issues. Just feed him and love him – he’ll be fine.

Poor Grady! He's in good hands though. I've heard nothing but good things about MSU. BTW, he looks like he could be Mattie Grace's twin!!!

Sending prayers for Grady's full recovery. Poor baby must be in la-la land on that morphine. :(

Thank you for your prayers - they are much appreciated. He does look like Mattie Grace - and is just as sweet as your descriptions of her, donna.
Grady’s Med Student just called. He is doing well – considering. They did lab work – no problems there. They did lots more X-Rays – everything else looked fine. So the only fractures are in the femur. They gave him some food, and he is hooked up to an IV. He’s getting Fentanyl continuous drip – as well as some oral pain med prn. (La-La land for sure!!)
She will call again first thing in the morning, and let me know when the surgery will be done.
