pet doors
Please help!! Just installed pet doors for my cats--one in/out of the house and the 2nd in/out of the garage--how long will it take for them to get acccustomed to the fact that MOM won't open the door for them.................and that they can come and go on their own..
-
It depends on the cats. My furry darlings are either spoiled rotten or little furry bricks. It still seems to amaze them that if I hold the flap open for them that they can see into the toy box. (Er, long story...) Much luck, and may your cat(s) be smarter than mine...
Welcome to Pet Talk, by the way.

P.S. WARNING, WARNING, WARNING -- Letting the flap whomp on a kitty tush is FATAL to training, if my two are any example.

I ahve heard, that if you put something tasty,on the other side,of the flap, then the Cat,will eventually figure it out.Unless he is like RB Lester,a boy hood Cat,who spent, his life, wanting out,by sitting,in front,of the cellar door.

My husband and I stood on either side of the door and gently pushed the kitties back and forth through the door. They had it in no time!

GOOD JOB!!! Sounds like your kitties are quick learners when it's something to their advantage!:D
Now, unless "Mama's" cats are unwilling to do the same, they should have it made.....if/when they WANT to!:D
