Need info....
How long can a cat go without food or water?
I trapped a cat on Sunday night and kept the trap and cat in my storage shed overnight. In the morning it was raining and cold, so I didn't want to throw the whole thing in the back of the truck to go to the vet's. In transferring the cat to a carrier, I almost had the carrier door closed when the cat escaped, into my shed.
The cat bounced around the shelves and under the wood scraps for a few minutes until it found a good hiding place. I had to go to work so I closed the door and locked it in.
I set the trap and put food in it. Tonight I replaced the food with fresh wet.
How long until this feral cat is hungry enough to go into the trap again?

Make sure you have a towel or something over the trap, so it too becomes a hiding place for it. Good luck as well, once they have been in it, is hard to recapture them, they are smart and very stubborn, don't give up , food will win

How is it going?
I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question other than I hope the cat would eat and drink before it became critical (such as dehydration).
If regular wet food didn't work, how about Starkist?

Day 2: Checked at 2PM and no sign of the little rascal. Last night it was looking out the window when I replaced the wet food, but it scampered back under some lumber.
Tonight I'll try some sardines. Just a little on top of the cat food might work.
There is water out as well as a pan with litter (not in the trap).
An ex-tech said that her cat once went without eating for 10 days. I hope this little squirt doesn't take that long!

Believe it or not...I'm told deboned fried chicken works every time. This is what many people use when trying to trap a feral colony as part of tnr program. Good Luck!

Day 3: Sardines didn't work overnight. I left them there for the day.
I'll try chicken tonight.
Stubborn little stinker!

PATIENCE...
IS A VIRTUE... DON'T HATE TO HEAR THAT WHEN YOU'RE IN A HURRY???
ACCORDING TO ANIMAL PLANET, A WEEK TO 10 DAYS...

WHEN'S MATTIE GRACE GOING TO HAVE KITTENS?? I'M SO READY;) ;)

Success!
The sardines must have done their job. One little calico is now at the vet for her procedures. (Aren't calicos all or mostly girls?)
This is the one I trapped Sunday night and released Wednesday morning.

My next door neighbor said she has seen 3 kittens about the size of "Bob the squirrel" eating on her window sill. I've seen a big black one and a small tan/gray one on my front porch, so it looks like I'll be busy for quite a while.

Great Job! Keep us updated on the little ones!:D
She is a real cutie.....

Yea! Good job! I'm so glad she's out of there.
I hope the little ones are easy to catch and young enough to be tamed.
Let us know. Bless you for taking care of them.

This is the little devil that was in the shed. She woke me up at 3 this morning calling for her friends. I figured if she was well enough to make all that noise, she was well enough to go "home" so I released her.

What a beauty! And she'll have a happier life now that you've broken the cycle of litter after litter. Congratulations!
