Wal-Mart has cats!!!!
At least the one here does.
There is a colony of about half a dozen that live in the ravine next to the parking lot. As often as I shop there, I had no idea! But Saturday night I was having the usual exciting evening (not!) and saw them chasing each other. They weren't very concerned when I walked near them, but wouldn't let me get closer than 8 feet from them. I fed them a can of food and left.
I came back with my trap and they watched me set it up. I walked away and stood behind my truck. Within 15 minutes, a pretty calico was in the trap. I took her and the trap home and came back to try again. There was a women there with a huge bowl of dry food and a half dozen cans, feeding. She comes every night at midnight because she works at a hospital.
Needles to say, I didn't get any more of the cats, but at least they aren't going hungry.
Cali is already spayed, has her first shots and is in my cat room in a cage. She's touchable and has let me hold her. Not a good candidate for TNR, if I can figure out how to find her a home.
I've got a picture at Photobucket, but I'm having trouble posting it from home. I'll try in the morning.

Good catch! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures!

It seems to be a magnet for cats! My Wally & Martha (get it ;) ) were the only survivors of a litter I got at our local Wal-Mart some years back. They were horribly sick brand new babies. :( Hope you can maybe work with the feeder, and find out if any already have offspring, or are friendly toward her etc. Glad you got the one girl to prevent her from popping out a Spring litter. ;)

Good work!! One female who will NOT be having babies this spring.

Cali
She spent the evening in the carrier and is now in a big cage in the cat room. She doesn't want to eat or drink, but is alert and very friendly.

Awe!! Look at her. I swear, she looks PROUD! Like she is proud to have been saved or be in a house... She is a lovely girl to boot! I love how she is marked.
I have Wally and Marty, also Wal Mart catches, caught in a trap around Christmas. I still have them in a cage but I would turn Wally loose in a room if I had one without so many places he could hide, I can hold him now and we play. Marty is a harder nut to crack...

Great job! Callie is gorgeous, and she will be eating soon, I am sure! I like how you have that scratcher in her cage .... good idea!;)
My Freida who just delivered kittens one week ago (see posts in Cat General) was also a Wal-Mart "regular"!

Mruffruff,
She's gorgeous!!!! Great job trapping.
-
Muffruff, Callie is absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm happy that you saved her from outside life and having litters.
-
Oh my!! She's sooooooo pretty!!!

I let her run loose in the cat room for a few minutes last night. She was real curious about the litter pans. The other cats just watched her. I put her back in her cage for the night, since I let the cats have run of the entire house while the dogs & I sleep (behind a closed door). I didn't want to have to find her before work in the morning.
She didn't scratch or struggle much when I picked her up to put her back in the cage. She'll be a real good candidate for adoption--if I can let her go!
I also took Rusty to the adoption center last night. I hope they give him enough water. He's the capture that drinks 48 ounces of water every night between 10PM and 6AM., a little less during the day. Sometimes the center doesn't pay attention to details for individual animals. At this point, I don't have any other options for getting cats adopted.
Anybody want a cute cat?
