Any ideas what to say?

A friend of mine just met someone who told them that their dad passed away recently. She wants to send him a card or something. Do you guys have any ideas what to say?

"Sorry for your loss" is what most people seem to say. When my mom died that's what I heard a lot of, and still do. I know what they mean and it's a nice condolence but I feel very ackward replying back. Saying thanks or thank you seems too weird.

If she wants to send a card there are many well worded cards that could just do the speaking for her.

All any one can say is "I am sorry for your loss" and I will be praying for you...a card would be nice...
