need advice on dog!!!
I have a mostly lab about 8 month old puppy who lives in the pen with my brother's 3 yr old half lab and half golden retriver, and when i go to feed them, my brother's dog won't let my puppy eat. She even gets on top of him and tries to bite just to keep him from eating. This is starting to be a big problem. I need advice:confused:

Can't you separate them while they eat?
-
Definately need to be separated before someone gets hurt

The law around here says they HAVE to be either tied up in a pen at all times or the pound will come and pick them up. I could put him on the leash, but this, too, is a problem, beacuse when I open the pen the other dog will get out:eek:

then why don't you bring one in the house to eat... Are they allowed in the house? Why do they have to stay in a pen at all times thats wierd where do you live?

we live in the Church's house (my dad is a preacher) So my parents don't let the dogs in, just the cats. we Live in Tennessee. The laws are crazy. Shadow (my puppy) almost nearky got taken to the pound once, because we did'nt know they weren't supposed to be lose(we've only lived here a month)

What about getting your dog a seperate kennel. Are the dogs protected from the weather? Oh yeah If you post this in Dog general you will get more posts and also welcome to Pet talk.

Regardless of where you live, I think, at a minimum, you have to find a way to separate them during feeding time. There are many remedies for this, including a tie out line, letting one inside (which I know you said you can't do), or holding a leash in your hand and allowing one to eat in peace. There are many alternatives available to you. I hope you will pursue them.
