I suggest looking at your local shelter. :)
Or as a start, look at www.petfinder.com
Here's a sweetie I found while searching in your area.

Yup - petfinder.com and your local shelter are great options. Both places will know more about a particular dog than a "breed standard" can tell you!

Also, if you were to give me a adoption link, it is also preferably a puppy or 1 1/2 or less
for the local animal shelter
i got one in irvine, hungtington, newport, dana point, costa mesa, riverside, yorba linda, and much more there so many!!! lol

thanks so much guys!!!
I'm still in the proccess of looking, but I like the ones you've guys picked out. Do you know if any of them are dogs for the
"lazy?" lol and if they can handle being gone from 8 am to 4 pm??
thanks!!!

I think it would be best to contact the rescue/foster/whoever has them listed if you are REALLY interested in adopting.
I do know, you're more likely to find an older dog who is happy being alone for so long and happy being lazy than you are to find a young one. :)

I know you've said you're looking for a smaller dog, but, have you considered taking a retired racer into your home?
Not all of them are huge. I know of females that are full grown and hover around 50lbs. As a breed they are known for their sweet disposition, LAZINESS, loyalty, LAZINESS, character, LAZINESS, adapability, LAZINESS... and well, they're just plain lazy.
Many people describe them as being very "catlike" in some regards. They are fastidious with their own grooming, almost to the point of being vain, have short coats, so there's not much in the way of shedding... dont produce any body oil, so there isn't that "dog smell" to them. And being a breed that isn't bred and bred and bred... it doesnt have some of the health issues that are inherent in large breeds. no hip dysplasia in greyhounds, tyvm :)

i agree with GreyhoundDaddy! the greyhound is everything you wanted except for the size.
