Elevator Butt??

lol sorry for the pointless thread,but does your cat stick his/her butt in the air when you petting him?? My Cat,Bear used to do that,but she's 18 now,and has trouble walking,so she doesnt really do it anymore.
Anyone know why they do that??

I don't know why they do it, but boy do they! Sometimes, I'll pet Eepie just at the base of her tail just to watch her do it.

I think they do it cuzzzzz it feeeeeeeels soooooo good! Scratch harder, yea, RIGHT there.......mmmmmmmmmmm :D

That is the favorite ploy,of the Found Cats,to get more of a pet,that normal!

My cat, Vella, always did that! :) She loved getting her back scratched!

I don't think this is a pointless thread at all, I think it is a cute one because I find elevators butts show a sign of contentment.

All my boys and girl do this when I pet them. Even Poppy started doing this when he was only 8 weeks old. It's the cutest little thing.:)

Luna did that right from the start. At the age of 5 months, the vet said this showed she's getting into heat already, so she was spayed (well, she would have been anyway, of course), but she never stopped doing that, so I figure it means something else!

I have never known a cat that did NOT do the elevator butt, including baby Robbie and Lizzie:D :p :rolleyes:

I've never been able to get Mowgli to do the elevator butt, but Zelda does it all the time! Just start scratching and up up up goes the backside!

Funny 'cos out of the four cats I have had, only Tiger does it, and I thought it was the most unusual thing I'd ever seen! I don't know if it would have anything to do with the position they take for mating, called "Lordosis", but I hope that Tiger isn't that thinking that way! It doesn't make sense, if that is the reason though especially as there are male cats who do it as well!

My Male Bengal loves his bum to be scratched. He was neutered at a fairly young age, and he still loves that lower back scratch with a passion!

All of mine do it too .... love it!;)

heehee - just happened to have a vet appointment yesterday and asked my cat loving vet about elevator butt. He chuckled and said all cats are born and die with some degree of it and it is purely sexual.:D
