If you read my other post I was thinking about getting a hermit crab or two to keep on the desk at my work. I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas for a good, small office pet. Any ideas would help. Thanks!:)

Fish are pretty and they are fun to watch swim. Also, turtles are cute and you can take them out of their aquarium and let them walk around. I would suggest turtle, but make sure you get at least two turtles. My turtle died at age 8 days because he was lonely. Good luck on finding an office pet!!!;)
Around our office there are several people who have a Siamese Fighting Fishie swimming around. They even have names. :)
Turtles in the office are out of the question. Turtles are an extremely hard animal to care for properly and having them in the office would be difficult to take the time for proper care. Also, turtles require a huge tank (30 galons plus) and I doubt you could place one of those in your office!
Cookielover, your turtle did not die at 8 days old from not having a friend- it died from not recieving proper care as harsh as that may sound it most likely true. They are just a tricky pet to care for. Turtles do just fine without companionship.
Hermit crabs and bettas/other fish are two wonderful ideas- I think I would go with bettas- the color and their swimming movements would calm me down and help me think during stressful times.
I agree with everything YLL saidQuote:

Before I even read the others posts I was going to suggest a betta.
Just NOT a Cockatiel or 3 Cockatiels! Mine are SO loud and they share the office with me! :p People actually love it. One guys told me he was going to give me an Indian name this week and it was "3 birds a chirping". I told him it ought to be "3 birds a squawking", but he said "chirping" sounded much better for the soul. Wasn't that sweet? :)
I'd also suggest a betta. In fact I'd kinda like to get another myself, my last one passed away a year or so ago (they tend to have a 1-3 year lifespan depending on age when you get them). I felt it was overall pretty easy to care for and a beautiful pet, they can easily make it through weekends when you are away.
I have to agree with a Betta. I have a few and they are very easy to care for, and with a pretty bowl they will be complimented on their already high caliber of beauty.
My second suggestion would be a Rock, too. You can choose from granite, quartz, mica, shale, sandstone, or even obsidian.... Or you can go with a mineral and choose some sulfur or amethyst, etc.. :)
A few years ago I worked at the front of office of a dorm on campus, as our office pet we had one of those tiny little african dwarf frogs. They are super small, maybe about an inch long and don't eat very much and if I remember correctly they only are supposed to eat every other day. I'm not sure about their lifespan but he was alive the whole year that I worked there.
Here's what they look like.

I was thinking a Betta too as long as your work doesn't mind you doing water chances at your desk. ;)
Also a turtle is nice idea too, a small land turtle of course. I have my Mel, small little guy who lives in a clear small like storage container (no lid of course). No tank to worry about there and there's something calming about raking his sand bottom and fixing him his little island up. :D I've had him over 2 years now, no problems ever.
Hermit crabs are good, but sometimes it's kind of like having a pet shell. :p
I also like little turtles ! :D
BUT I LOVE THE IDEA OF A PET ROCK!! :D
I'm not really sure for a hermit crab because you have to do humidity and temperature and they require baths once a week....BUT if you have the time to do that at work I would REALLY reccommend one they are awesome pets!!Oh plus if you do get one get 2 they are social animals :D :p
you guys should get one from luvgold or the other way around I can't remember her name fully, but she needs help with getting rid of some bettas and her a GORGOUS!!Quote:
