Poor Pep is gone :(

Pepe Helmstetler passed away at 10:09 pm EST tonight, somewhat peacefully, mewing softly. I'm so glad he was with us and not at the vet or animal hospital. We buried him in the back yard wrapped in some soft towels, under a dogwood tree. We'll have to get him a little headstone. He was a good, brave cat and we will never forget him.

Thanks, everyone, for your good wishes and kind words. Our hearts are broken, but hopefully will heal soon. He is at least not suffering, had a long life (19 years) and didn't have to suffer going to the vet too often. We gave him lots of food and treats and love, and he gave us lots of laughs and happy times.

Godspeed, Pep, we will miss you terribly, my friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through it with RBButterscotch in March of this year. I know how you are feeling.

I am sorry about Pep. I lost my two geriatrics ages 16 and 17 several years ago. It is so hard to lose a companion after such a long time! (((((Hugs)))))

I am so very sorry about your loss of Pep. He was a beautiful cat, and he lived to be a very old guy. I know how much it hurts to lose such a close member of the family, I lost my JezzaBelle not too long ago. I still cry myself to sleep. But you have to remember that the Lord Giveth, and the Lord takeith away. I am sure that Pep had the most loving family a cat could ever wish for, and for that he will always remain with you. Again I am so sorry, and I hope you and your family will rejoice in his long and happy life.

Have a good time in the RB Pep, I am sure my old girl Jezzie will guide you through. You will be very missed and ALWAYS loved.

But you've been blessed with 19 long years of friendship with him, and he passed away peacefully at home. He's happily playing at the Rainbow Bridge now, young and healthy.

There are no words strong enough to tell you how sorry we are. Our hearts go out to you, your husband, and your sister. Pep was very lucky to be so loved for so many years. He will be greatly missed but you will have many years of memories of sweet Pep.
