Skunkhound

Just a little humor for the behavior section (Well, almost humor, or humor for everyone but my wife)....

Lady did it again. Ever since we got her from the shelter almost 5 years ago, she's been a great dog, with one exception. She hates skunks. Hates everything about them. Hates their black and white fur, the waddling way they walk, their scent, and hates most of all the fact that every time she gets close to one she winds up getting a bath in some funny smelling orange stuff. She has declared a vendetta against them. Last night, for the 5th or 6th time, she decided to chase one of them, with the obvious results.

I think I'm going to start a new breed based on this behavior. Breed a lab and a dal and sell them as skunk control animals. Think it would take off? Though I can't see something called a skunkhoud being a big seller.

Hehehe, thats funny!! :D But I can imagine what your wife thinks of it :)

Being that I'm 300+ miles away, I can laugh. My dad wound up helping my wife last night. He came down and helped with the bath (something I normally do as lady's a handful whenever the "B" word comes around), being that he has no sense of smell and he's one of the people she trusts enough to let him handle her like that.

Lady logic:

Skunks look like the kitties I play with inside, but they walk funny

skunks smell funny, but they might be neat to play with

They don't play with me and every time I get near one I wind up smelling funny too

every time I get near a skunk dad gives me a bath

I hate baths

MUST KILL ALL SKUNKS!!!

Poor Lady - those skunks just don't learn, do they? (Guess we'll give up on Lady learning skunks are better left alone!)
