1st Day Covers

Do any of you collect 1st Day covers? Bahrain has released a really nice one for the Olympics - if you would like me to mail you one, PM me your snailmail address!

What are they? I've never heard of that before.

Sorry! But I love FDCs!!

A first day cover is a stamp mounted on a post card and canceled (dated) Usually to commemorate an event or person. It's only issued on the day(s) the event takes place and in limited numbers....

A nice gift for people who collect stamps, coins or are Olympic nuts!!


I have a fewamong my faves is one FDC from the San Francisco Baseball All Star game in the 80's and a bunch from the Rowing Comp from the 84 games.

I got my envelope yesterday. I put it into my back pack and forgot about it until my break!!

I was outside and people we looking at me after I said 'COOL!'
for about the 50th time!!!

Glad it arrived - I was wondering if it would EVER get there!!

Gosh how weird that only one person knew what a first day cover was, I started collecting some, but gave up in the end.

I don't collect them, but I order them for my post office. Right now it Pet Month, so I have pet OFDC. & have about 10 different kinds of OFDC at work. They sell the best in Jan, or when ever the new year animal comes out. This year was year of the monkey & I sold about 30-50 of them. My customers just love my OFDC. I present them quite well :)

We had a goldfish, black cat, white dog & a white bunny with dark grey ears, STUFFIES!!!!!

The goldfish is sooooo DARN CUTE!!!!!
