Please Help with Cat Vaccination

I live in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and in here people do not care much for their pet as many of us do in America. Anyway, I took my kitty to the vet for check up and vaccination. The vet gave Kitana 3 shots: Feline Leukemia Vaccine, Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia Vaccine, and Rabies Vaccine. He told us to come back the next month for another Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia Vaccine. I did all that. Recently, I read online somewhere said that indoor cat do not need Rabies Vaccine and Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia Vaccine. I'm totally clueless. Please help me with the vaccination schedule for your kitty experiences.

My cat got ringworm and the vet told me to give her shower regularly like every 10 days. Used Lamisal (anti-fungal agent for human) on her infected area everyday until heal. I feel it was unsafe because Lamisal is for human so I didn't use it. However, I give her bath like every 3 days and now every 7 days. Her ringworm is gone. Is it safe to give cat a bath every 7 days? Kitana just die bath time.

Now, my sister-in-law's kitty has ringworm and she asked me what to do. I didn't know how to advice her but from experience I told her to give her kitty shower every 3 days. Her kitty hate water so what should she do with her kitty? Does any of you know any ringworm anti-fungal agent for cat?

We've had a couple of bouts with ringworm. Our vet gave me a lotion called "Conofite" that I had to use on the affected areas once a day for 4-6 weeks. Baths weren't needed for the cats, but the dog got a bath! And we handled the cats with rubber gloves to prevent spreading it to us! It is so contagious and that was a trick to make sure all five cats didn't get it. And we washed all their blankets and sleeping pads regularly to prevent re-infection.
I don't think I would use a product for humans on my cats either. The Conofite lotion worked well and throughly- hopefully your vet can get it for you. It's a clear liquid, and only a few drops are needed per dose, so a little goes a long time.

In the states rabie vaccines are manitory, first 1 yrs shot then they can get them every 3 yrs. If your in an area prone to rabies vet will do 1 yr rabie shot.

If kitties were outdoor or unknown history most vets will give the intital shots of feline leukemia.

When kitties are indoor only then vets wont give them FLv stuff yearly but they do get booster shot once a year.

I had an outbreak last year brought in by some foster kittens. I gave them high dose Program, which is being trialled for ringworm. I also put a compound called Trezaderm. Both of these are Rx and I had to get them from the vet. I was able to confine it. Ringworm is SO annoying!:mad:

The protocol I use is:

Speaking of indoor only- low risk cats (not kittens)


Rabies - yes. Adjuvant free (one year)

FRCPV- distemper - yes.

FeLV and FIV - if TESTED Neg/Neg for these diseases, then NO vaccines.

FIP - no. (due to several efficacy issues)


Plus, I would not have them give more than ONE vaccine per visit. Stagger your schedule as cats can experience side effects, and you won't know which vaccine causes them and which don't.
