Question about Breeders?

Has anyone here ever purchased a kitten from a breeder? How was your experience? I have two cats. Winston was adopted from my local shelter, and Wallace I purchased from a local Ragdoll breeder. This was my first contact with the world of breeders. Everything is great as far as the kitten goes. He's 4 months old today and healthy as can be. My question is about the paperwork. How long does it generaly take to receive the Registration papers from the breeder? I've had Wallace for a month now and still have not gotten them. I'm going to call her today and find out what the status is, but I thought I would get some opinions here as well. Any thoughts?
