I personally think it's fine. Hey, it's no worse than putting your dog or cat in a costume or dressing it up. That's just my opinion, though. It doesn't harm the dog, and, it's probably less annoying than wearing clothes. ;) The process might be frustrating, though. I don't know, I've never dyed a dog!

I have to say, "So what?", honestly.

We dye dogs at my grooming shop, if the customer requests it. It is a quick, painless, harmless procedure, no worse than a bath for a dog.

And the dogs LOVE it after it's done, because they get TONS of attention, pats and compliments ... from everyone they meet.

I think whether or not someone dyes thier poodle green for St. Patricks day is the VERY LEAST of the dog-loving world's worries. If someone loves their dog enough to spend money to get its hair dyed, and then of course spends time with the dog, showing it off to all their friends ... sounds like a happy, loved dog to me.

I'm MUCH more concerned with the millions of dogs being starved, beaten, euthanized, abused, neglected, experimented on and bred to death than I am with whether or not Fluffy is pink or blue.

I don't think it's abusive, but I don't personally like it, meaning I would never have it done to my dog.

I think it's a bit goofy, but then again i'm one of those who dresses up my dogs (for photos).

I agree too, i n that I don't think its abusive. It doesn't hurt them, but there is something about it. I would never do that to Layla or any other dog I will own. I love them to much just how they are, I don't need to change their color. But whatever floats your boat, as long as knowone is hurt.

i'm fine with all of them except the multi-colored poodle...that was DISTURBING!! i mean, it had eye-shadow, eyebrows, etc. It looked like it was dressed in drag. yuck, in my opinion.

:rolleyes: oh god...that's so...think how the poor dog feels? i'm sure they can't feel very dignified walking around like that....but if they liek it...more power to them. i just think it's stupid. dressing your dog up is one thing, but dying it's fur.....

How much color can dogs see anyway? Your hair doesn't feel different when it's dyed, so, I wouldn't see how a dog's fur would feel different, either. It just doesn't seem like something they would even really notice. I mean, a weird haircut, or even being shaved, maybe they would notice that. I think, from a dog's point of view, that wearing a hat or shoes or a dress would feel more different, and possibly less dignified, than having fur of a different color. I dunno.....

You know what, QueenScoopalot? I hate it too. I don't have any real basis for my reasoning, I just hate it for the dogs to even have to be any way other than the way God created them.

It bugs me when people get it done on a regular basis (ie: keeping your Poodle pink year round). But I do think its fun and harmless for people to do it for special events every now and then.

I don't think I'd do it, but then again, Reece loves to be dressed up so maybe he wants to turn green next St. Patricks Day, hehe.

I have a friend who uses non-toxic washable markers to draw little designs on her dog's back for the holidays. It just takes a minute and it is SOOOOO CUTE!

Hehehehe, I like it! Not for all the time, but I can see myself having my Bedlington dyed (When I get her, and assuming she doesn't mind) on special occasions. As was said...the dogs get all sorts of extra attention, and it's temporary and harmless. :) I think my dogs dislike dressing up more than they would dislike this.
