Indoor cats tend to have longer lifespans. I think the average is around 18 years old, so 22 years is very good. I'm sure you took excellent care of your kitty!
I think that aly is right, about 16 - 18 years for an indoor kitty. So 22 is a good age. It may have changed but I think that the oldest recorded age for a kitty was 34.
I hope my two rescues live just as long (or longer!)Quote:

I can't say what the experts feel the age span is, only what my own experiences were.
My first kitty lived to 12. That seemed a bit young, but she was sick.
3 others lived to be 14. I felt this was a good life even though there are reports of cats that live longer.
My oldest cat lived to be around 20. (never had an actualy birth date on him)
So in my opinion, any cat that can live beyound 16 is a miracle and a blessing.
Like people , it all depends on thier genes. Pouncer went at nine , Munchkin at 4 , Fluffy at 14 , Smoke at 13 , Orange Bloosom at 10 , and Smkoey went at 22. Generally , Mixed Breed Cats live longer ,, as they have stronger genes .But there are lawys exceptions to the rule!
