Pet insurance questions please help

Sorry if this has been asked, but I seem not to see a 'search' option, whut? no search option?
Well, anyway, my neighbors pup kroaked from getting into the trash and eating bad food... not a smart pup. But it got me thinking of pet insurance, I really wouldnt be able to afford a $700 emergency bill, a friend got a german shepard pup from the pound and it was sick and costed him $700, it's now a happy and well pup.
Has anyone had any experience with pet insurance, and can recomend a company, i've seen $15-19 or so for the online ones, 2-3 year old yellow lab/chow, fixed....
