a really sad rat poem

MOMMY OH MOMMY

Today I woke with such a fright
Someone took mommy in the night
I used to love to play with her tail
She used to kiss me when my breathing did ail

I am so scared as I just learned to see!
My siblings are going fast soon will be me
Maybe when I get there, my family will be there
I can snuggle my mom, feeling her tender care

My tummy is rumbly and hurts a lot
The food smells bad, what little we got
The cage has some yellow stuff,
which makes me sneeze bad
I don’t feel well and I’m really sad
Ohh no someone came the hand just got me
They put me in a box, I can no longer see
Maybe it’s to go to a clean great new home
With food and no smell, a big place I can roam

I have been in this box a very long spell
I’m so very scared and not feeling well
Mommy once told me of a person who was kind
I don’t think this person is whom I did find

They just came to get me the hand was quite fast
I was grabbed by the tail - the skins thin, it won’t last
Now I was put in a big see through home
Maybe there’s food....lots of space to roam

What’s the thing in the corner, moving I see?
It don’t look like Mom or my family
Mommy oh Mommy I can feel my heart race
Something’s not right it’s staring in my face

Something deep in my mind just did stir
Mommy calls it instinct, it has happened to her
I know what will happen so I’ll close my eyes tight
I know there's no hope so why try to fight

Mommy oh Mommy I know where you are!
Mommy Oh Mommy I am not very far
Soon I’ll be with you, getting snuggling and a kiss
Soon it will be over and this world I won’t miss!

I am really sorry for offending you wolfchan. I am editing this post for you, because I feel the same way. It is just worded wrong.

Every day hundreds of pet rats and mice are sold by petshops around the world as LIVE feeders. These animals are fed, alive and terrified, to reptiles. This is a horrendous and inhumane fate for these rodents, it can also be VERY dangeriouse for the snake to eat live rodents. Oftentimes rats' jaws will be broken or they will be stunned with a stun-gun to ensure they cannot defend themselves against the reptiles intent on eating them. which I think it kinda mean. I feel that Snakes do have to eat to of corse, BUT they should be fed pre packed mice and not live. The reptile owners will try to justify their cruelty by reasoning that snakes eat their prey live in the wild. This does not make it acceptable in captivity. Many people consider rodents to be pests and not pets. But for thousands of people around the world, rats and mice are beloved pets. consider the fact that rodents are the same as your kitten or puppy - they are living, breathing animals, capable of fear and pain. And also with a great capacity for love. Something must be done to outlaw the selling as pets of creatures that require LIVE food. Find out what you can do to play a part in stopping such cruel and inhumane practices. Animal-lovers around the world will thank you for it.

For this alone, I loathe this post. I have no words for the way that one senence makes me feel. Why should I have to surrender my baby because she is a predator? My dogs are predators, should I give them up because I feed them animals?

In my mind it doesn't matter if the animals are still in their original form or not, I still feed my dogs sheep every day.

Something must be done to ban the sale of LIVE FEEDERS.
Something must be done to educate ignorant reptile owners.
Something must be done to make frozen feeders more widely available.
Something must be done to educate non reptile owners to the fact that some people really LOVE their reptiles, and should not be chastized for it.

*Sigh*I have no problem with reptiles, personally, I just wish there was an alternative to live prey.... and/or that more reptile owners used frozen food.

I didnt write that lol. I only copied and pasted it. Arnt live mice and rats a threat as food to reptiles?? I would worrie about the snake getting hurt.

I am very sorry. I love reptiles, I really do and I agree that frozen and or pre packaged feeders should be more widely available.

I even hope to own a corn snake soon ;).

It's true that live feeders are dangerous to snakes, reason number 56843289 I'll never feed live. I wouldn't want my baby hurt.

What kind of corn are you looking to get? The black Motleys have always been a favorite of mine.

I want an albinoi corn snake with red eyes :D.
