Our central heating boiler is broken just now and I'm having great difficulty finding someone to fix it. As the temperature is dropping rapidly, I have an oil-filled radiator on all the time which is keeping the chill off the whole house.
I got home from work last night to find this little scene -

That scene is so familiar, thats the only kind of heating I have in my home, and my big old Ash just hogs it all the time, Lexie on the other hand does not worry about it, when I had my Sooti, I had one on each side of the heater, Ash sits almost underneath it, I am worried he will burn himself one of these days.
Wherever we shift our heater, Ash is to be found.

They look like they are all "fluffed up" as well. Maximizes retention of body heat!

What a great picture. In the winter, Tigger tends to get into the corners where the radiators come together and she curls herself into a little ball and hogs all the heat in that area.
Aww! Heat seeking kitties! :D My RB Goldie would sometimes put her head UNDER the steam heat radiator in my bedroom. I always said that explained why she was so cuckoo -- baked kitty brains! Her little noggin would get SO hot but she loved it, spent most of the day and night meatloafed by the heat register. I miss her so much!
although last night I caught Mitzi meatloafed in front of the steam heater in my livingroom -- I guess it's a good sign? :rolleyes:
Very cute kitties snuggling up to the heater. Our furnace went out last year about this time when it was getting below freezing at night. We had to wait several days before someone could come replace it. We microwaved (2 to 2.5 minutes) our buckwheat pillows and put them down for Halo. She loved it! Supposedly, buckwheat retains the body heat. I do know that I can't sleep on them because they keep me awake with their "crunchy" sound when I move. But the cats absolutely adore them. Stay warm. Oh!, they are also great for people. Microwave them and then prop yourself up and read a book or put it on your cold feet. Ahhhh....

Oh my gosh, what cute pictures everyone! Don't you just love heat-seeking kitties? Even though they have naturally high body temps, they still love some heat. This is always my favorite time of year because my Marius becomes really cuddly and will sleep with us everynight. He only does this during our cool months. Even though I know he's just using us for warmth, I just love it when he sleeps with us! He has just started, a couple of days ago in fact, so I know that fall is officially here! Keep those kitties warm everyone! :D

Great pics everyone. :) Sunny and Storm have also started sleeping with me too. Poor skinny Sunny gets cold feet and needs me for warmth in the cold nights and mornings. :)

Last night was cold and clear. Sam and Daisy were both cuddled right up against me when the alarm went off this morning. They got up, stretched and ran downstairs to join Jessica at the heater. Jessica has never been on the bed - well, not to my knowledge anyway. She has certainly not been on it while we have been in the house.
Thank you! So do I. My washing machine is on the blink as well now. It stopped working between the wash and the spin. It's got a load of clothes trapped in there as we speak!Quote:

That is soooooo cute. Roxxi (my 12 year old Tabby) has her own kitty heating pad, which I keep plugged in all for about 9 months of the year. She goes there whenever it is not warm enough for her elsewhere. She HATES being cold.
