How often do you visit the hairdressers Any bad experiences......????......

Just wondered how many of you spend a lot of time at the hairdressers, what you get done etc etc,?

Myself I don't spend much time or money, I am a do it yourself girl, my girlfriend comes to my house and trims my hair every two months or so, I put a colour through myself to hide those grey's and thats about it.

I only have to pay ten dollars for the haircut, which is real cheap, I actually have never found a hairdresser who can do my hair decent, once I walked out of one feeling so embarrassed by the disgusting blow-wave job she had done, and I had to walk around town like that, as I had shopping and errands to do.

I just remembered the only time my hair was done , and it was a great job, was in America, while I was on holiday , it was when the Farrah Fawcett look was in , and I can even remember his name LEN, I felt like a million dollars when I walked out of there, FARRAH EAT YOUR HEART OUT,, sigh bit far to go for a decent hair do.!

I have natural wavey hair, and the hairdresser's tend to blow-wave it straight , which looks ghastly on me, surely they can see for themselves what a bad job they do.

So do you have any nasty experiences with hairdresser's?

Maybe once or twice a year. I get it trimmed.

I dye my hair myself every few months, and get it cut by whoever a few times a year.

My eyebrows are what I'm a baby about. I go to the same lady every two-three weeks. She does an Eastern technique called threading. She just takes normal sewing thread and rolls it between her fingers to snap out the hair. She shapes my brows for me.

I get my hair trimmed a little every couple months, because it grows really fast.

I got a perm in college that totally fried and dried out my hair. That it the last perm I ever got, too!

Back when I kept my hair short I would go every 5 weeks to get it cut and every 10 weeks to get it colored. Now I'm growing it out so I go about every 8 weeks for color and some trimming of the ends. *S*

My mom used to be a hair dresser, and she usually trims my hair for me. It's free, and she does a great job.

If she can't do it, I always go to the same guy. He's fabulous, and he only charges $20. If I want a new style, I will usually go to him.

Threading is SOOOOOOOOO easy, and personally, I like it WAY better than waxing, because it hurts less and works pretty good too. My aunt taught me how to do it. :p You get a thread and tie it, so it forms a loop. Then you twist it in the middle, and put your two fingers through from both hands on each side. Then you put it next to your skin and open your fingers on one side, and then on the other. The twisted part zooms across your skin, pulling the hair off as it goes. It works for the tiny and fine facial hair most women are always trying to get rid of. It works for legs too, but it does take quite some time. :o

Back to the topic.............my mom's friend is a hair dresser and normally trims my hair at her home. I like to keep my hair long, so its normally just a trim to keep the bottom straight, however I did get a layered cut from her once and HATED it! I have vowed never to get my hair layered again. I like it long and cut straight at the bottom. :p

Occasionally my mom will trim my hair. She does a pretty good job for not being a hair dresser. :p

Sounds interesting. But does the hair grow back fine and thin? After years of tweezing, hair tends to get coarser. While I can see it working on some eyebrow hairs, I can't see it working for the more "industrial strength" ones. :p ;)

Actually, I think it comes back even more thin and fine. It makes the roots weak so it comes back less. Tweezing is horrible and can leave scars, and it makes the hairs come thick and course. You should avoid that. The effects of threading would compare to waxing, because it removes a lot of hairs at a time and not one at a time like tweezing. I've never noticed them coming thicker. They look finer to me. :p

One time I went to this new hairdressers place and IO wanted my hair layered and she gave me a mullet!!! I was so mad and stayed in my room for almost 12 hours streight, crying the whole time. I wanted to shave my head lol

I once went to a new hairdresser for a perm. She didn't believe me that my stick straight hair takes a perm fast. I looked like Little Orphan Annie. I was visiting my parents and my mother hid all the scissors.

I don't get perms anymore. I recently, and with great trepidation, switched hairdressers after 15 years of the same one. I've very glad I did. I wear my hair short so I need to go every four to five weeks.

All I get are trims.Once I got a real hair cut,but I will never ever do that again!:p I can't get it cut anyway because I cheer now,and we do lots of stuff to our hair like curl it and stuff like that!:D

Every 8 weeks, I go (missed my appointment yesterday, darn it). My hairdresser only works a half day on Thursday, and all day on Friday. It is tough to get in with her, but she does a good job with my color and trimming me up, so I'm sticking with her! Because I am prematurely gray and am not ready to be, I have to go at least every 8 weeks to cover up those roots! :o

My hair "horror" story is from when I was getting ready to start college. My hair was long and straight, and I thought it needed a little "body". Well, the girl who did it thought it was extremely straight too, so she piggyback rolled each section (using two rollers on each section). I had the frizziest mess you have ever seen. My mother was furious with me! Ended up having to have it cut off because it was such a mess. Turned out that I actually had very wavy hair, it was just the weight that was making it so limp and straight! I learned my lesson and there has never been another perm! :o

Edit: What I forgot to say was that I did the dumb thing in August and my sister's wedding, where I was Maid of Honor was in October! That's why my mom got so mad at me! I looked horrible!!!!!! :o

Not as often as I should. I've been going to the same girl since my mom took me there for my first haircut at 18 months. The woman is great, it's just the shop she works in now is a tad pricey. It's $40 for a cut (even just a trim). I don't have that to throw away every 8 weeks. So I go maybe three times a year to get it trimmed.

In April/May, I dye it myself (highlight it lighter). I won't be doing that this Spring though as I'm getting married in June and my fiance asked if I'd leave my hair go natural.

Around this time of year, I usually dye it back close to my natural color. Speaking of which, I need to do that... Thanks for the reminder!
