Well, I am getting a valley bulldog, and all I know about valley bulldogs are that they look alot like a boxer/bulldog cross but they are purebred dogs, they have the same personality as a boxer except they are alot calmer and are around the same size except not as tall! I think they are only getting popular now, but if anyone has heard of them before please let me know, and if you have any info on them please neomail me at [email protected]
I've never heard of them before. They are not recognized by any legitimate organization, and are in fact bulldogs bred to boxers and then their mixes bred to other mixes of their kind. It doesn't unfortunately make them purebred.
I agree with Shelteez. "Valley Bulldogs" are mutts, with a fancy name. "Designer mutts" are, sadly, very common. Back yard breeders and puppy mills churn out whichever combination is likely to sell at the time, then dump those dogs and start with a new combination when the fad wears out.
no, actually I thought that too, they arent actually a boxer breed they just look like a smaller version of a boxer or a bigger version of an english bulldog, they are actually getting more and more recognized now, and are also getting regestered for kennel clubs and things, I read a few pages on them
Unfortunately things on the internet aren't always true. When I read your post I also did a search on the 'net and what I saw were obvious boxer/bull dog crosses. I didn't see any legitimate organizations listed.
Where I'm from the most common mix breed is a bichon/shih tzu cross. There are so many of them around that most people think they are their own breed. But they too are just mixes of 2 popular breeds.
This is obviously just a cross of an English Bulldog and a Boxer........not a real breed. Just like a Cockapoo is just a cocker and a poodle mixed.

The breed does not even have a defined look. Saying the breed can be a "tall version of an English Bulldog" or a "short version of a Boxer" obviously says the breed is not developed, and the pups could turn out looking more or less like either breed.Quote:

Thats exactly what I said, my mom wanted me to go look at some, and I said well I probably wont know whether it'll be like a bulldog or a boxer, and actaually all the puppies turn out looking the same, the breeder has kept 1 full litter, some are just taller than others, they all look like a short boxer with a bull dog nose, she also said that they are regerstered, and also they are going to be in dog shows and things now because they are getting alot of recognision
Registered by which organization? I can guarantee you they are not registered by any legitimate registry organizations, such as the AKC or CKC.Quote:

Anyone can say a dog is registered. I can decide to tomorrow to breed a fox terrier with a bull dog. That'd be unique, eh? I'll call it a TerriBull. ;) Some of them might look like bulldogs and some might look like foxterriers, but oh well, as long as I'm making a buck or two, who cares!
And I'll start a registry for it, called the ITBRA ... the International TerriBull Registry Organization. Sounds official, right? Then everyone can register their mutts with me, and have "registered" mutt! Then I can sell them for $100's of dollars!
Sound silly? Well, it's not ... that's exactly what back yard breeders do, and that's exactly what a "Valley Bulldog" is ... a sadly real-life version of my imaginary TerriBull.

If you want a dog that looks kind of like a boxer and kind of like a bulldog, PLEASE don't buy it from a back yard breeder, no matter what they are calling it.
PLEASE go to a shelter, and save a life. Look on Petfinder, and keep a dog from dying. I'm SURE you can find exactly what you are looking for, with a little time and patience.
I know it sounds like we are being very hard on your "Valley Bulldogs". Youget that way when you have worked in a shelter and seen dogs dying by the dozens every day for the simple reason that too many dogs are born, and not enough homes exist for them. The last thing the world needs is more dogs, especially more mutts produced in someone's garage or back yard, regardless of what cute "breed" name they are given.
Please don't contribute to the horrible problem of pet overpopulation by putting money into the hands of an irresponsible back yard breeder. Please take a little time and look at shelters for a dog that suits your needs and wants. You WILL find one. Please save a life, not help send more dogs to their death.
Well Valley Bulldogs came from Nova Scotia, so if your from the USA you wouldn't have heard of them yet anyone, because most Canadians havent, but I can actually get one into a dog show, which means its a breed right? Because I have never seen a crossed breed or mut on a dog show, or one with papers, the woman who runs the dog show says that they are getting a whole lot of recognision right now, and that alot of people do think that they are muts with fancy names but they are going to get popular, I have been trying to find out as much as I can, and I do have my doubts and all that but they all look the same, and muts dont look one way because if they were just bulldog/boxer crosses you wouldnt know which they were going to look like, but the breeder owns 11, and has owned their grandparents before them and they all have the same personality and look

I live in Canada and you're right I haven't heard of them.
And no I don't live in Nova Scotia.
But I am fairly involved in the dog show world, and they are not an accepted breed with the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) so therefore they cannot be shown.
I would be interested in knowing the name of the show that the dogs are shown in as well as the "organization" that recognizes them.
One other thing is that dogbreedinfo is not the greatest site when dealing with dog breeds as they list many mixed breeds as "purebreds" some examples being the toy munchkin, schnoodles, cock-a-poos, etc.
Depends on the dog show. If it is a real, sanctioned dog show held by the CKC, then you certainly could not show this dog. If it is a "dog show" put on by a "breeder" at the local fairgrounds or park, then sure, you can show anything you want and call it whatever you want to. Our local humane society hosts a fundraising dog show every year. Our local 4H club has dog shows all year, with the winner going to the county and then state fair. We give trophies and certificates and prizes, and all kinds of fun stuff. Any dog at all can be in a "dog show" like these.Quote:

That's impossbile! Yes, I live in Canada, and I know that registry top to bottom. There is no valley bulldog in the registry. The only "V's" they have are the smooth and wirehaired vizslas.Quote:

Go here. This is the list of the ONLY registerable breeds in CKC. This is taken from the CKC site itself, so no one can say that it isn't accurate.
