Can anyone help this little girl??? A friend of mine has her.

I got this from my friend Ruth just now. Is there anyone out there who might be able to help her?

This is a picture of Serena. Serena came to us from the Clay County Humane
Association in Brazil, Indiana. At the shelter they noticed she did not put
any weight on her one leg and the vet didn't do x-rays, but thought she may
have been hit by a car. She was transported to us (Compassionate Companion
Fund all-breed rescue) on August 23rd, and on August 26th she saw our vet.
We asked him to do x-rays and we found she had 5 fractures in her pelvis,
one of them into the hip joint. Her hip is slightly dislocated which is why
she can't touch her one foot to the ground. Her tail is broken and she may
have a dislocated vertebrae in her spine or possibly a herniated disc. (One
of the spinous processes is pointing in the wrong direction - we can't tell
the exact problem there with just an x-ray.) The pelvic fractures are bad.
She will need an orthopedic surgeon and plates will be needed and probably
other hardware. Serena is only about 1 1/2 years old. Our vet does not
think these injuries are consistent with a car accident, but more likely
something very heavy was dropped on her. We can only wonder what happened
to this sweet girl. She had an ear infection and a skin infection when she
came to us, but she's on antibiotics and Otomax and those are healing
nicely. This girl is so sweet - she absolutely loves everyone, is a major
snuggler, she likes all the other dogs she meets and would not think of
chasing a cat. What breed is she? Anyone's guess - she was "a stray" which
I find hard to believe because she listens extremely well and comes when
called. I have hard English Setter mix, Border Collie mix, and Springer
Spaniel mix. Could be any or all of the above. All I know is she is the
most wonderful, loving, sweet dog I have come across in a long time. The
problem - CCF is no different than any other rescue. This surgery will be
very expensive. We will need to find an orthopedic surgeon to take her
case, and then find a way to fund it. We are working on bake sales, craft
sales, and posting requests for donations to help Serena. Please, if you
know of anyone who can help, or even a surgeon who may be able to fix her
injuries and give us a "rescue discount" - we would appreciate any help we
can get. Donations of any amount are gratefully accepted. We are setting
up a separate fund for Serena's surgery - apart from our general fund that
pays for all other expenses such as spay and neuter surgeries. If you know

guarantee all money received marked for Serena will go towards her surgery
and medical treatment and for no other purpose whatsoever. She's such a
young girl - she has her whole life ahead of her. She is currently on pain
medication to help her through this until she can have her surgery - but
time is of the essence. We do not want her fractures to begin healing
wrong, which will make fixing her injuries more difficult. We do know there
are many, many animals out there who need help, but this girl - you would
never guess by her attitude that she has pain. She freely gives all the
love she has to give to whoever will receive it! Our vet feels the
fractures are only weeks old, I can love her and feed her and medicate her,
but we absolutely do not have the funds to pay for this surgery alone.
Please help us help this girl.

Are you talking about Serenity? This is a different dog. For Serenity, call Tammy at the SPCA and tell her who you are. She said that that would be great if you would adopt her.

I couldn't see a picture but this poor baby.She sounds so sweet and certainly doesn't deserve this.I have suggested this before and I know you have fundraisers going but I thought you might like to add http://WWW.IMom.org to your list of fundraising places.You can go there and read all the info and put in an application.I know they have worked with shelters and abuse and car accidents or whatever before. If all the criteria is met.It is worth a chance to give it a try.They helped us so much when we needed them with Kori's brain tumor after we had spent thousands of dollars and just ran out.I also hope others go there too because I suggest this site for people in need but they also need people to donate for these pets to reach their goals and keep giving to the animals. I hope everyone checks them out and sends the site to friends ,relatives , coworkers,everyone. If you have a dollar or two or $100.00 ,any amount helps even a little adds up, donate to these babies.I have started donating to a pet in someones name as a gift.We really have so much these days in a lot of ways and these babies are suffering so even a little donation put in as a birthday gift,holiday gift or whatever for a child or adult with a card and the pets picture and writeup.They can then follow their story and see their progress.I would love such a gift,sure I am broke and need things but nothing makes me feel better than giving a chance to a furbaby/featherbaby or other.I hope this helps.

Here is an update on Serena!! I guess there ARE some good people left out there!

This is EXCELLENT news! Rosemary at the shelter in Indiana contacted a
benefactor who I know is an angel in disguise! She has offered to pay the
balance of the cost of Serena's surgery above what we were able to collect
in donations! This means Serena can get the help she needs - and she needs
it now! I'm waiting for a call back from a local vet that does orthopedic
surgery - she is looking at the xrays today and will call me and let me know
if she will be able to do it - and she has an appointment at the UW
Veterinary Hospital in Madison on Monday just in case this vet can't do it.
My preference would be to have it done locally so I can visit her during her
hospital stay. This poor dog has only been out of the shelter a few weeks
and I don't want her to be in pain from the surgery AND feeling dumped
again. Madison is 2 hours away from me. Some of you donated time and some
of you donated money - I will be sending separate thank yous to everyone
this week - but in advance thank you thank you thank you!!!! I will send
another update when I know for sure when her surgery will be and again after
her surgery to let everyone know how she is. Please feel free to forward
this e-mail to others who ask about Serena - this is just WONDERFUL news!

I think she said that there is a specialist in Madison that is doing it. I guess the concern is that some of the fractures have healed and haven't healed correctly. She just wants the poor thing fixed. Thank God for the angel that is paying for this.
