9/11 rescue dogs get lifetime health insurance.

The Veterinary Pet Insurance company, through their Skeeter Foundation, has made available free lifetime health insurance to all the search-and-rescue canine workers that participated in the September 11 cleanup sites.
Beyond the immediate dehydration, smoke inhalation, cuts and bruises that most dogs experienced, some have since been plagued by health problems, including nerve damage and arthritis. To date, nearly 200 dogs and their guardians have taken advantage of the program.
