If you are ever worried about Darlin possibly contracting kennel cough, you can have your vet give her a vaccine.
We had to make sure Bailey got this vaccine before she started obedience training. The vet squirted the vaccine up her nose and even though she snorted a lot out, he said only a little needs to stay in for a dog to be vaccinated.
I think that particular vaccination only cost us $12.
I don't understand why the shelter here doesn't vaccinate the adoptable pets for kennel cough. Every single animal that I've gotten from there has had a severe case.
Nala and her littermates had kennel cough when they came into the humane society. They didn't adopt them out until it was gone.
I didn't realize it could be severe like that!
I vaccinate my dogs for kennel cough, because most kennels won't board them if they're not vaccinated for it. Usually, If I have to board the dogs, I'm busy with something big and I can't make an extra trip to the vet. So I just have them vaccinated when they get their shots every year.
