All We Are Saying, Is Give Peace A Chance...

Alright.

It's been 3 days since me, my boyfriend, and my cats Maggie and Bailey have moved back into our old apartment. We had moved out 4 months earlier because we couldn't affored rent, but we recently moved back in when we came into some money. It was interesting to watch them walk around our place and re-familiarize themselves with their old home. Bailey is extremely sensitive and was very scared at first although she has been getting better everyday. She is still not getting along with my new kitten Bowie (named after David Bowie cos they both have 2 different colored eyes ;) ) She keeps growling and hissing and swiping my new kitty :( while Maggie, although cautious, seems not to mind him so much anymore except for the occasional hissing.

Will this go on forever? How long will it be before Bailey accepts him into the pride? Is there anything i can do to help things or will getting involved only make matters worse? I feel bad for Bowie because he has an upper respitory infection and conguctivitus (which he is being treated for) and I have been trying to seperate him from the other cats but he refuses to stay confined to one room! :( I let him roam around the house and keep him away from the other kitty's food bowls and toys (Bailey is very possesive of her belongings, especially her feather :D ). It very funny because Bowie seems to be in love with Bailey and wants very much for her to accept him, but she won't let him get near her. Does anyone have any advice? I feel like I am living in the "All My Children" soap opera world for cats and Bailey is my "Erica Kane". I wish that some of you can see how she behaves, she is so ridiculous! Very prond and stubborn and spoiled...she prances around like a pony and throws little hissy fits when she doesn't get her way. :rolleyes: How can I help put an end to her drama-rama and help Bowie feel more at home? :confused:

Pinklebows, even though my menagerie generally is compatible with each other, I too have a couple of cats who refuses to get along with the remanider of the pride. I am seriously thinking of re-homing them. I am speaking of especially Mopsy, an all black, very long furred lovable and friendly lap cat. She needs to be in a one-cat only household. When I first rescued her off the streets, I thought she would eventually begin to integrate with the others, but I have had her for about 6 months now, and nothing has changed. She still hisses and bats the others around espcially at meal time. She still causes problems with Otis and sometimes Fawn, because of her independent nature.

I am relating this because of your situation. It could be that you have a pair of cats who will not get along with each other. I really do not know what to do, except perhaps, get another furkid to see how Bailey accepts him/her. Perhaps someone else out there may have a better solution to your problem.
