The cats have lost weight........

and I am switching their food yet again! :rolleyes:


Houdini still has the throwing up problem. The sensitive stomach Science Diet hasn't worked and it has not helped. It's actually made them worse by making them lose weight. Both Houdini and Cheetah look thin and I can't stand it anymore. I have been increasing the amount of wet food, as recommended by my wet because it has more calories and water. My kitten Ewok however is just huge on his Science Diet. :) So I won't be switching his food anytime soon. Although I did buy him some Nutro kitten food to mix in, to see what happens. If he gains weight or what. I want to find a good food that keeps the weight on my cats, especially with Houdini always throwing up because she eats too fast.

The other day I put down some wet food, she ate a ton and then about 4 seconds later threw it all up. It's very irritating. *sigh*


Today we went pet shopping and I have decided to put the cats on Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care. Has anyone else tried this food? I want my babies to gain weight. I get so jealous of everyones plump cats. I don't want them fat, I just want them to gain a few pounds. I just want to know what everyone thinks of this food, the people who have used it or know someone who has. Anyone know of a food that has a higher fat and protein content? Don't worry I have discussed this with my vet before I decided to switch foods. ;)

I don't know specifics about cat food but I think in general Nutro is a better food then Science Diet. I'm not really a fan of SD. Royal Canin is also good.

Thanks Amy, I'll make sure to look into that brand of kitty food. :) Hopefully this will work though.

Felidae is also supposed to be very good for problems like this :)

Noah has a sensitive tummy and he's done amazingly well on Royal Canin Special (for sensitive tummies). He's now just on Royal Canin Indoor and is doing fine. :)

That's all we use for our house cats! We have a cat with a very sensitive stomach and since we switched to this, he hardly throws up at all. We swear by it. Hopefully this will help yours.

My older cat Ash also has a problem with throwing up, he can go ages without doing it, and then has a few weeks where he just throws up after every meal, we go through lots of carpet spray in my house, my vet does not seem overly concerned, as Ash has not lost any weight,infact he has probably put on some, and is a rather large boy, but i still worry about it, and hope its nothing more sinister, he was a stray ,so who knows what rubbish he ate before that. hope you get to the bottom of the problem, i know how fustrating it can be.

I feed my cats Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care Weight Management Formula because they are already heavy enough. All four of them love it. :D I also mix in a little bit of Felidae dry cat food with it too. You'd probably want to use the adult formula because it has more fat than the weight management one. My Sunny will sometimes throw up but it's usually because he eats too fast and then runs around too quickly. Good luck. :)

Some of my furkids barf up what they eat, but this is usually caused by something indigestible in their tummies. Do you feed them green grass? I have found that a few blades of green grass helps them digest or to barf up indigestible contents in their tummies. Tiger had a problem of barfing up whatever I fed the others with, until I realized that she had sensitive stomach syndrome. I have been feeding her for the past 1-1/2 years, kitten chow with a little canned food mixed in. Also, I have to feed her separate from the others because she will not compete for her food when they come uninvited to eat her meals. Some cats will barf up their food when they have hairballs inside of them, especially when the weather begins to warm up and they start shedding their winter under-coat. This can be remedied by purchasing "hairball" control food for them.
