Why oh why thy Romeo did you pee my bed?!?

Ok. I just got to try and understand this!!
Started out last night Romeo and I fell asleep together on the recliner. I woke up and realized I feel asleep, so I immediatley took Romeo into the bathroom where his litter box is, and placed him in it. He jumped out, not going potty.
He proceeded to do the nighty ritual with me:closing the lights, locking the door, etc. following me the whole time. SO then I crawl into bed, Romeo jumps up on the bed, and he started to scratch the comforter, I figured, thats o.k. because Sammy always sratches whatever, before he sleeps on it, especially cardboard boxes
Well I decided to sit up and check it out and Romeo peed my wonderful down comforter!!!:eek: :eek: Not just a little squirt, but alot! I hurried and scooped him up, and he was still going a bit, and peed on me too!! I put him in his box, but of course, he was done by now!!
So I just wrappped the comforter up, tossed it aside, grabbed another blanket, and went back to sleep, Romeo too, I kept thinking what if he poops next? But he didn't
Why did he do this do you suppose?? He always uses his litter box! :confused: :confused: :( :(

Was his litter box cleaned. Cause some cats won't go in a dirty box. I have two litter boxes cause my Mooky who is 10 months old now, would not do his duties in the litter box if my Katie girl, who is 11 years old, had a poops in it, so he would use the other one. Maybe if you have the room for it, you can try putting another litter box and see if that helps.
But if he continues to do this than i would bring him to a vet to make sure it isn't a medical problem.

Thanks rg-girlca! I do have two boxes, but one is large, and the other small. I had originaly had bought the small one for Romeo because he's so little, and figured Sammy would use the large one, but they both seem to prefer the big one. Sammy actually tried to stuff his big body into the little one before, to check it out I guess!:rolleyes:
I am just having a hardtime understanding why he would be pee the bed, since he also sleeps there?:confused: Why would he want to stink up his own sleeping quarters?
Romeo does have a vet appointment this week for boosters, I'll see what the vet says, but for some reason, I think PT would have a better explanation!:D
Maybe Sammy had stunk up the box, and it wasnt very appealing to Romeo!!

Now, I can't remember how old Romeo is, but he could be trying to tell you something! Fister did the same thing two times. The first was because we had just got him up here and used a cardboard box with some soil we had taken from the yard. Not good enough!! The second time was because he was telling us he had a bladder problem! :eek: And could we please do something about it now!!

Of course, the problem could be a completely different one, but if he does it again, I would take him to the vet and get him checked!

Romeo is almost 12 weeks old. We caught him today "mid-squat"
ready to go on the living room floor!!:eek:
We quickly grabbed him and put him in his box, where he pooped!
He was ready to go on the carpet!
On work days, I clean out the boxes, twice a day. morning, and again at night. Off days, like today, I'll do it about 4 times, so generally, it's in pretty good shape. Today I bought another large box, and I scrubbed down the other big one. Now there will be 2 large boxes for them instead of 1 small, 1 large.
He's being so Goofy!!

Lorraine i can well understand your fustration, my cat lexie who is much older than romeo, uses her litter box ritually, no problem, then oneday out of the blue she peed on our mat in the kitchen, and also pooped there, she has never done it again since, i also reached for advice from pet-talk, and i believe she was stressed by something, because shes fine now, we had the dishwasher on, and it was playing up at the time, and maybe it made this awful noise all night, so we think thats what did it, but i have since learned never leave towels around, she will pee on those too.
Apart from stress, or bladder problem, i cant help much, hope things improve for you and romeo starts using his toilet again, cheers

Emily did EXACTLY the same thing to me shortly after I got her. I took her to the vet and it turned out that she had a really bad UTI. It took a couple of courses of antibiotics and much patience (on my part). But I took the duvet in to the dry cleaners and I haven't had that problem since.

I had the same problem when I got a kitten from the shelter. He would pee in our bed in the middle of the night usually on my side or me! It didn't start right away I don't think but we just kept putting him out on the screened lanai at night for a while. I keep the litter out there but when he first came I had one in the bathroom so that wasn't the cause. Thank goodness he doesn't do that anymore. But if he can't go out he has now decided that my oriental rug is the next best choice. Fortunately that is rare!

I have 2 litters also but one is covered & they ( I have 2) poop in that one:p but seldom pee in it.

Hope yours gets over it.
PS: I washed my down comforter & put it in the dryer & it was fine. It was a light weight though. I doubt if I'd try it with my new heavier one but who know's.

It could be stress, UTIs, or a the other kitty soiling the litter tray ... but it could be the litter itself - have you moved it, bought a new tray or tried a new brand of kitty litter? We tried Pixel on the recycled stuff as an expiriment, but she ended up going poopy on the laundry floor, it was the one and only time she's ever done that!

Hello! I would definately take him to the vet and rule out a urinary problem as males seem to get it more than females. I had the same problem with my bailey and it ended up being way more than I thought (more than a behavior problem)

Thanks everyone for your great advice!! Romeo was at the vet this week for his boosters and he does'nt have a U.T.I. thank goodness!! The vet doesn't know why Romeo peed the bed, I guess only Romeo himself knows why he did it! Naughty boy!:rolleyes:
Fortunatley he hasn't done it since then, and I hope it stays that way!
