Do you allow you cats on the counters?
I voted sometimes....because when Tubby was young enought to jump that high, we would let him on the counter to get to the open window over the sink - but only then. Otherwise flying lessons were in order. ;) :D
Unfortunately, or fortunately for that matter, he can't jump that high anymore so it's not an issue anymore.
And Peanut has never been one for high places. Sometimes I put her on the counter to give her a treat. She eats the treat then panics and jumps off immediately. I guess that's a good thing, but I just can't figure out why she would be so paranoid about being on the counter. :)
Our only rules are "not on the counter" and "not on the tables".
Of course, the tongue prints in the butter lets us know that they don't always listen to the rules;)
LOL LOL So true! Our cats know they aren't supposed to be on the counters, but that doesn't keep them off all the time! LOLQuote:

George only made it on the counters once when we left a smaller table temporarly in the kitchen, which he used as a giant step.
Milly never thought to go on the counters, until Milo arrived.
Now they work in teams. one young cat jumps on the surface and drops food to the floor for the other two...sigh (At least they aren't fighting.)
End result we are learning to clear the kitchen, quickly.
YES. I gave up keeping them off after #7
My cats are allowed on just one part of the kitchen-counters. It is a corner with windows, and they love to sit there and "sqeek" at the birds:D :D
This is Sydney, sitting there!

I voted yes. Fuzzys bowl is on the table lol. it is out of rech from the dogs that like cat food.
I voted "sometimes". I couldn't care less that my two are up on the counters or the kitchen table, I mean, they're Bengals, they go wherever the heck they want to go!! (very determined cats!). But my roommates do not like them up on the counters or table - so it's something of a battle in our house!
I have the smallest kitchen in the world - it's one of those 1950's galley-style kitchens - there isn't enough room on my counters for kitchen stuff, let alone cats! I don't cook much, so there isn't really any reason for them to want to go up there - no windows, nothing.
With Hanna, I discourage her jumping. I have collectibles (model horses) on shelves and so far, she has never jumped up and knocked them down (my really valuable models are behind glass). Bo and Abby also have never bothered them. They can jump all they want on the beds and their cat furniture (and our furniture too, for that matter).
We do have a big bay widow they jump up into all the time, and that's OK too.
I have never had to take drastic measures to keep the cats off the counters, but when Bo was a younger I lived in a different house and I fed my cats on the counters so Bandit the dog couldn't eat the cat food. So I guess I was just lucky - a couple of "Nos" and my cats seem to listen, and stay off the counters.
Yes, it's a useful walkway to get to the top of the fridge and inside the pantry door  We only shoo them off if we are preparing food or if the cooktop is hot. (We clean everything before we cook, of course!)
My cats are only allowed on the counter if they are on their way to the windowsill. But they are not allowed to sit on the counters.
I voted No, Blueberry isn't old enough to reach our kitchen counter, yet, but I'm sure my parents won't let him.
Absolutely NOT!! If fact, my two are banned from the kitchen. That's because it's so small. It's just a galley like kitchen with an entrance only. When I first moved in, I almost stepped on Speckles tail a couple of times so now I've trained them to stay out. Other than that, they have free run wherever they want to go, including the bathroom counters.
Because they are older and not very curious, they really have no desire to go exploring very much. Besides, Max has no interest, and Speckles can't jump that high. Poor girl can't even jump on the bed anymore without a step-stool to help her.
They aren't supposed to be up on the counters or the glass dining room table but does this stop them nooooooo. :) Here's Sunny on both.
