"MAYA": A very nice, pretty and very feminine mix (?), young and
spayed female (SUCH A PRETTY PRETTY FACE!!!). We have put in a great
deal of time into her: Fully obedience trained (operant
conditioning), 100% house trained, knows some tricks (she is VERY
smart!) adores kids. Been with us for a long time so she has been
totally assessed, trained, and socialized, plus fully checking her
health (absolutely healthy!). My wife and her daughter have put a
lot of time and TLC into her. Originally a stray, she was in animal
control, and the people who turned her in to us were at least good
enough to give her a home then at least saving her from certain
death. She is so so so so smart, easy to train, and has a
temperament that is so loving and trainable. She has only been
trained on a buckle collar. She gets along with ANY other animal and
is used to being on our farm, going on walks, playing in the pond
and having a good time, enjoying her life. She is such a cutie. No
undesirable problems or habits. She loves to sleep in bed, on your
lap (a little too big for the lap), she is just a nice dog. She is
in need of a home that will love her implicitly. UTD on all
vaccinations, and is spayed. She has come a long way, from a
lonely, scraggly pup to a gorgeous, loving and trained committed
companion. A good dog for any kind of family, young with small
kids, to elderly folks. A very stable dog.

"Teenage Labrador Retriever Puppies": We have not had the two lab
pups very long, and with now incompassing doctor costs over top of
insurance, have not had the extra funds to spay and neuter as good
little rescues should (smack our hands). Theses dogs owner just
gave them to us instead of shooting them. Hero and Brandy are both
very nice purebred Lab puppies, exact age not known, a guess is
around 6 months of age, both would do very well in obedience. My
wife in totally now unable to work with them or any of the dogs
now. They have just been having fun playing in the play yard,
running on walks in the pastures, running and jumping in the ponds
(will definitely be water dogs – potential hunters maybe or even
water SAR??) Both show great potential as service dogs for the
handicapped – they show all of the qualities needed in a service
dogs (wife trains them specifically). They would be good dogs to go
into a "program", or would do excellent as an owner-trained SD.
With the little bit my wife has been able to do with them, they both
have been worked with the operant conditioning method, as all the
dogs have. They would also be a great candidates for a detection
dog – SAR dog, bomb dog, or the like. Hero and Brandy have a ton of
potential to be anything, from a pet, to good hunting dogs, to a
service dog, to a dog to a canine worker or "soldier" for the USA.
Here are two dogs that were going to be shot that could do a lot of
good for someone. THESE PUPS WILL HAVE TO BE SPAYED/NEUTERED. It
is preferred that a Lab Rescue take them and place them
appropriately in foster care or in forever home. PLEASE SOMEONE
SEND THIS ON TO LAB RESCUE. THESE PUPS NEED BE IN LAB RESCUE/FOSTER
ETC ASAP… THIS IS AN EMERGENCY.

"Mattie" is a 11/2 year old Catahoula female. Blue merle. She is a
well started working cattle and goat dog. She is a very laid back
and well behaved dog inside, and is 100% housetrained. She loves to
sleep in bed and is a one person dog, loves her whole family but
will bond and live for her ONE person. She is very smart and wants
to learn. She knows a host of tricks too. This dog will make
someone an excellent stockdog and lifelong companion. She is
purebred but is not rescued, she was pulled from the animal shelter
on her last day as a stray. She is a very hard working dog and also
works hard to be a great friend and companion. Whomever is
fortunate enough to get Mattie will be a very lucky and blessed
person.

"Katie" is a wonderful year old purebred Catahoula spayed female,
rescued from a shelter in October '02. She IS an owner trained
seizure-alert dog, as she was my wife's SA dog, however, my wife's
needs became greater than Katie could meet. So, Katie needs to go
to a person who needs her abilities. She is an excellent basic
service dog for someone smaller and has been trained as such. She
has completed basic and advanced obedience. She is an absolutely
excellent dog and is such a cutie. Totally housetrained, loves to
ride in the truck. Superb in any social situation, has had to stay
in the hospital with my wife, and other such things. She loves kids
and all people. She is also a very good watch dog. She was not tall
enough for my wife. She will not put things in her mouth. She is a
blue merle, with tan points, weighs around 35 lbs. She is a lover,
loves to be with her person, LOVES to sleep in bed. Up to date on
all shots, spayed, heartworm neg. I would greatly, greatly
appreciate it if someone would take initiative to post her on
service dog lists so this dog would have to chance to help someone
else.

My stepchildren had an idea that they would write the end of these
postings: Dear animal lovers, "A big change came upon our family
this past week. We found out that our mom has a brain tumor. We do
not know what lies ahead for our family. But our mom has been the
kind of person that never thinks of herself. She has been a kind
and loving person to so many needy children and animals, dogs,
horses and any animal over her lifetime. She has spent most of her
young and adult life helping kids, and animals of all kinds, which
we will continue to due as we grow up. We ask that who ever takes
the dogs that our dad has listed that now need homes due to our
mom's condition, that the person donate something to what we are
going to call "Annie's Plan". In short, we will donate that money,
even if it is just a meager amount, to an owner of an animal in a
local veterinary hospital that is in need services that the owner
cannot afford, and maybe, just maybe, it will help a little. This
was a big issue with our mom who tried so very hard to help fund
many peoples' animals operations even though she really could not
afford it herself, even when she was a kid like us."
