Wow! Twice in one week I beat the Europeans for first thread. Ziggy, what a cutie pie you are. You remind me of RB Smokey the Elder.

Ziggy reminds me so much of my old cat Snoopers when he was a kitty. COTD mar 9 2002. Ziggy you are a cutie.

There is something about kitty-love that helps us humans through those tough, healing times! And isn't it interesting how they "pick" us just when we need them (whether we know it or not). May you have as many years of love and fun with Ziggy as we have had (so far) with Grasshopper, who "picked" me right after my Dad passed away, and has been with us almost 17 years now! And what a pretty kitten Ziggy was, I'd love to see arecent pic - ? Congratulations on being our Cat of the Day!!

Little Ziggy you are so adorable. You have such a big spirit and such a big heart. And you knew where you were needed. Please continue to share love (and laundry :D) with your family for many years to come.

Felinefriend will be surprised...they are probably still sleeping and don't know Ziggy is Cat of the Day!!!!

Wow, Ziggy, what a cutie you are! I love that pic of you, out and about in the grass. Sounds like you have a kind heart, and your family cherishes you a lot for helping them through their time of grief. I am glad that you and Blacky are good friends. YAY--WOW! Ziggy and I can't believe it!!! Zig is a STAR today on COTD, and she's sitting on my lap right now as I type!! It took about 10 months to get "Little Ziglet" nominated, so this was really a surprise!

We THANK all of you for your sweet posts, and THANK YOU, Bari, for letting me know Ziggy was up today! I love that photo too you posted of her from last month, and I'm going to try to post one too here to show another recent one of her!

Ziggy, and sister, Gerri, and brother, Blacky, just got a new Pet Fountain assembled this morning! They love drinking from it, and now we realize it is doubling as a new Celebration Toy for Ziggy's big day today! She will also get some special treats in a little bit! THANKS to all for helping make our DAY very special!!!

Okay, here's another recent photo of Ziggy (I'm a proud Meow-mie today), and thank you for the suggestion, Carm (colecooncats), about adding my poem I wrote about Ziggy after my mom passed away. I will include that below too (hope it doesn't look too long). Carm, your fur-babies are PURR-recious, and soooo photogenic!

THIS WAY

(with the help of Mom’s hand and Ziggy’s paw)

I feel the warmth of our peaceful fire,
Flickering lower and soon to retire,
Holding my new kitten and sipping warm tea,
Looking back on all this year’s come to be.

It just turned midnight and I can’t help my tear,
Thinking where I was this time last year.
It’s our first Thanksgiving without Mom here,
Yet always in our hearts we hold her Most Dear.

So much has happened, I can’t believe,
We found many new joys, but our hearts still grieve.
I hold our baby kitten and it’s ironic in knowing,
Last year a disease spread; this year a kitten’s growing.

Ziggy won’t allow me to get fully sad,
She’s so lovable, innocent and sometimes bad.
I feel a little guilty that I’m happier today,
Then Mom tugs at my heart and says, “I want it this way.”

I sometimes feel I just want to sob,
Yet I have a new husband, new friends, a better job.
Dad has found a joy amidst his pain,
With his new sweet love we can only gain.

Our family’s growing and our hearts taking charge,
Fueled by years of love through Roger and Marge.
They cared so deeply that even though they’re gone,
We feel their presence carrying us on.

As I pet my new kitten, she kisses my hand,
The same one that bears Mom’s engagement band.
I can’t help but laugh as Ziggy starts to play,
And Mom whispers to my heart, “I want it this way."

What a wonderful tribute to your special kitty and the moving, heartfelt poem. Miss Prissy came into my life at exactly the same time. How amazing it is to have these awesome animals in our lives. Thank you for sharing your story. ZIGGY ROCKS!!!!! :) :D :)
