How many treats does your pet get a day?
For us, it depends on the day, their behavior, and all that type of stuff of what is going on!
Star gets a lot of small treats throughout the day. I'm weak, I can't resist her begging....
I give mine when trying to train her to sit and stay.
When i started training Foxy i use treats all the time but now i am trying to slowly take them away.
Before I used to give them about 8 a day I think. That's too much, so now I give them about 2,3,or 4 a day. But depends on their behavior. On the bag of treats that I have, it says to give 14 to 18 pieces a day. I just think that's too much, and they'll be finished the bag very soon. Also, if we give that much, they won't think of it as a reward anymore.
Thanks everyone for all your replies! Sadie usually gets about 2 small ones a day, but it also depends on her bahavior. I just don't want her to get to fat!:) ;)
for my dogs it doesnt depend on behavior because they rather not have treats that are ment for dogs, they prefur treats human made. I give my dogs treats when ever they are being cute of hyper, The are good dogs all the time so If I gave them a treat everytime they were good it would be like 100 treats a day lol.
they get over 5 a day :)... :p
depends how many times they have to go potty!:p
It depends on their behavior but Mickey usually gets one in the morning, afternoon and night. Then he'll get them in between for doing tricks or if he's been alone in the cage a lot, we'll give him some treats for being so good. :)
owen gets a scooby snack when i leave in the morning.
and then usually another when i get home, or later in the day. two or three a day.
One cookie in the morning, one cookie at night for my hungry girls!! (referring to the dogs, here) They'd take more, for sure!!! :)
They've learned that coming in when called means "treat," SO.....guesss what these 2 tricky she-devils play ALL DAY LONG?????? IN/OUT......IN/OUT....... What little "monster's" I've created!:D
P.S... The treats are tiny:)
This is pretty much the way it is around here, Sandra. We use the IAMS doggie biscuits (smallest size) and I break them in half -one for each dog. They really aren't getting much and they are very active dogs. If they ask to come in on their own I don't give a treat. It's obeying me when I call that gets rewarded. :) They work like magic! ;)Quote:
