This has worked well with me for mice. I've never had an odor problem with rats, but I imagine that it would work the same. The ratio of vanilla to water is suppoesd to be 1 tsp/gallon, and I just bought a gallon jug of water and added vanilla to it and....voila! Lasts me about a week usually.
Thanks! I'm not having a problem with their smell or anything, just curious :D
